Why is this key still so far away from a comfortable pressing position?

To discourage mistakes.

Backspace is fine.
However that enter key and key layout is goddamn autism.

Backspace key is too big...
>>
>>51779602
My keyboard came with a small backspace cap to swap with \ and a big left control cap to swap with capslock. You can probably buy them online.

Infinite orgasms.
>>
>>51779520
I have caps lock remapped as an fn-style key that momentarily changes the meanings of my keys. fj becomes (), gh becomes <>, dk becomes {}, and sl becomes []. i becomes * and n becomes &. There are others.

I write a lot of C++ and using this, I almost never have to pick my hands up off the keyboard to enter a special character sequence. I can write

Foo* bar(const vector<int>& baz)
{
return *(baz[0])
}

Without every picking up my hands.

Looks exactly the same as Latin American Spanish layout. I like it.
>>
>>51779489
What would be the best way to go about doing this?

it's cuz the layout used was originally meant for typewriters and the keys were position to not be pressed too often to prevent them from jamming

you sir, win retard of the day award, type writers didn't have backspace.
>>
>>51779072
just build your own keyboard baka, mine's placed just off to the right of my less than normal sized space, so I press space with my left thumb, backspace with my right
>>
>>51779489
I do this. It's great. AutoHotKey can do it fairly easily on Windows, and you can change the xkb definition in linux, or something.

>>51779520
I swapped () and [], which is nice. I dunno why [] was deemed more important.

Caps lock as escape is nice too.

2 questions OP. Are your hands autistic? How many times do you fuck up when typing for this to bother you?
>>
Lol stop making so many mistakes or use a superior editor like vim
>>
Just use shift + left arrow to highlight your fuck up and replace it.
>>
>>51781508
What if it's an extra letter and i need to replace it with nothing? :9

In Colemark, the backspace is placed on the caplock key. However the caplock key is not placed where the backspace key was. Still, by putting it in the caplock key, backspacing should be less of a trouble.
>>
>>51779072

Do you have tiny baby hands? Just use your pinkie on your right hand to press the backspace key.

The autism is on your part, you're just freaking out because it's a different layout than you're used to.
>>
>>51779072
>ever using backspace
Can't believe the kind of plebs I'm dealing with sometimes.
You just hit enter and then punish yourself for your mistakes by slapping your dick.
