VLC is okay for video but if you use VLC for audio you need to off yourself.

It's a decent video player and I use it to and from. There's just better ones out there.
What I hate is people who never care to try out the alternatives. It's probably the thing that damages software the most.
It's why we are stuck with shit like Skype and WhatsApp even though they are awful.

mpv is really inconvenient for someone that plays many different kind of videos like me, though

I've been using MPC-HC, originally it was because it had SVP support, but it seems its preset video settings are better than VLCs. However, whether its SVP or just MPC-HC itself, it seems to crash if you skip around the video too much.

VLC is slow and has some problems with colors, artifacts, subtitles and other things (see >>51775635). mpv doesn't. It's lightweight, fast, customizable and relies on keyboard shortcuts which makes it even faster to use.

Is there a point to madvr? I followed a massive detailed guide about how to get the best image quality possible and the only thing I noticed is that 480i or lower videos look somewhat better. It's like madvr is nothing more than a ricing program for videos.
