Is it possible to cut video files without re-rendering them?

I have a bunch of huge youtube video files, but I only need some small parts from them. I want to extract these parts without re-encoding.
What tools can I use to do that, if that's even possible?
>>
>>51770899
Yes you can. You would have to go into the configuration settings on both devices.
Nice dubs by the by.
>>
>>51770938
I'm not an expert on the matter at all, don't really know shit actually but Avidemux seems pretty amazing at cutting clips and then outputting them as a new file
It's pretty quick too

Hibernation is usually disabled by default

Don't disable the paging file unless you have enough ram to never need it

The double tap feature to open a new tab on my laptop doesn't work anymore since the laast W10 update.

Anyone know how I can get it back ?
My Elan Smart Pad driver doesn't even show that option.
>>
>>51770968
How much ram does it have? The paging file is what the computer uses when it needs more memory than what is installed. it basically uses harddrive space as active memory.
>>
>>51771024
Only 2GB
>>
>>51770965
You should consider backing up just in case

I wouldn't recommend upgrading just yet though as some people experience issues with win 10 after upgrade. We've gotten many computrrs in recently at my work place asking to fix issues with windows 10, usually involving the fact that you can't block updates from installing

>>
>>51771100
Honestly this is fine for me at the moment, it's only used for light things like browsing this place and Word
Storage Space is the bigger issue, which is why i'm trying to decide which one's OK to get rid of, the pagefile or swapfile
>>
>>51771123
i'm using 10.6.8.1 from 2012 on windows 8.0 and everything is perfect. this driver even has additional options in the registry, not just the gui.
no idea why they kept removing features
>>
>>51771147

Yeah the fucking this is that it worked perfectly untill the last W10 update so it might come from that.
I'll try your version to see if it fixes anything.
>>
>>51771129
Get an sd card or something then.

I wouldn't shut off the page file with only 2gb. The swapfile shouldn't be disabled either.
>>
Can someone please help me?
>>51770944
>>
>>51771261
Is there any specific reason? The thing is I distinctly remember disabling one of them prior and things ran just fine
>>
>>51771353

They are both pretty important. The page file especially since you have only 2gb usable memory.

The swap file is for apps and stuff like that which I'm pretty sure it's 100% necessary to have.

Hey /g/entoos I have questions about my connection

I need some advice. My dad is getting a new laptop for Christmas and I got him an SSD for it. I want to do a fresh install of Windows instead of a migration to remove all the OEM bloat. Is it possible I can use the legit windows key the laptop has without calling microsoft?

If not, which pirated copy of windows requires the least maintenance? My current pirated copy of W7 requires me to run the crack tool every 6 months, i'd rather not have to do that for my dad for the next 5+ years. I'd like to put W10 on it because it would look shiny and new to him. Thanks

I'd like to make a video really small. But it has vital content on screen which is updated fairly slowly. So I'm wasting a lot on framerate. I'd like to make a slideshow with synced audio. I'm not entirely sure how to do it though.

I've tried extracting images from the videofile into a folder and removing 29/30 of them and I'm getting sync issues. But surely there's a better way than doing that I feel.
Can I somehow specify the output framerate of the video using FFmpeg?
>>
>>51772002
OK well the 970 is cooler, uses less power, has enough memory for 1080p, and nvidia drivers.

But I guess the 390 is better for having a pointless 8gb as it's only good point

I am making iso copies of my movies, and one of them stalls while in the process of building the iso.
It is going straight to my hard drive, I'm not putting it on a disc.
Normally it takes between 45 and 48 min or 85 to 105min. After about 3 hours i went to start my next disc and noticed it wasn't done, and for that matter hadn't progressed at all.
Checked the disc for scratches, brand new looking. Restart computer.
Start it again, and about 9 hours later it is the same thing.
Stop process, shut down for 5 min, turn back on, notice it made an iso that is 70.5gigs
Normally it would just delete a cancled attempt, but instead it left a 70.5gig iso for a fucking dvd.

I started a different movie while i looked for help which is still in the process of being done, but seems to be going along just fine.

Can't find any information about this kind of problem, and the iso builder im using has been replaced with a new program so no luck from their site except i could try with the replacement.

I have windows 7 64bit (6.1, build 7601)
Using AnyDVD for drm removal. It should be up to date.
Using 7burn to build iso's. Haven't gotten a new iso maker since this one has been great until this problem, and has only failed on scratched up disc. Also it was actually made for windows 7.

No internet connected to computer, not able to pick up a wireless signal, and even if it could there isn't a wireless connect for at least 8 miles in any direction.

I've never played with hardward, and own an Alienware Alpha. I really liked that I can put it under the TV and quickly start playing cause I got 30min-1hour sessions because of kids.

I decided I would build myself something similar and would like your comments. Also should I get windows 7 ; 8.1 or 10. All that is left to buy is OS and the case that I'm waiting to get a rebate on. Overall build cost 1100 shipping included. I dont count the taxes cause I get them back with my company.

My only mistake seem to have selected a board with socket 1151 since I could have went with a cheaper CPU. I didnt know shit about board and dont know much yet so I went with the recommendation from a build.

I5-6400 ; ASrock H170 ITX/ac ; 2x8 gig ddr4 2133 ; 120 gig ssd for OS ; 480 gig ssd for games ; GTX 970 OC ; Case Silverstone RVZ02B-W ; 450W bronze powersupply.

I went browsing for one on newegg and a few other retailers and it said they were discontinued and out of stock while others had stock.

Does Alienware typically solder in their parts or do they have normal screws to easily take out? I never worked with a Alienware computer.

My friend has a Alienware computer that I haven't had a chance to see the computer in person, but he wants a new computer and learn how to build one.

Once I get a chance to see the specs, we'll probably put it in a bigger case (he told me his case was pretty small, so it might not fit larger GPUs in, but I have to see for myself)

I need a standalone ftp client or a file manager with ftp capability for this piece of shit iOS.

I want my father's iShit 6 to be able to connect to his small office's NAS to view his docs. I can connect with my LG G3 with whatever app I want in 3 seconds. I set up the server myself, so I'm not messing up IP addresses, ports, encoding etc, yet NONE of the ftp apps for iOS can establish a connection. None of them even gave me an error code or a proper error message, they all shit the bed and refuse to connect. Every one of them is ad-ridden and developed by some Pajeet or Zhang SOFTWARE LLC. I'm pretty sure it's around 200$ like I said before, maybe a tad bit more. I'm not a turbo autist about the response time so it doesn't bother me that much honestly. As long as it does the job and has an HDMI port it's fine by me. HDMI compatible monitors are surprisingly hard to come by where I live, believe it or not. VGA is still pretty much the standard even on big monitors. People who want to go the extra mile usually just get a TV and are done with it, but fuck that, I don't have the dosh for a full blown TV.

My opinion is based off of having taught my dad (65) how to use them over the past decade, and video's of windows ten being used. Just putting that out there first.

With some setting changes, practice, and someone giving him a good teaching effort windows 10 should be fine. And all that is if he is slow to get it.
Simplify the setup, show him how to use cortana, spend time teaching him untill he has the basics down.

My dad was slow to learn, but with him being familiar with windows xp and 7, and still slightly confused by windows 8, he could hop on 10 with no problem and go. Show him how to use cortana and he wouldn't need my help very often.

Your responses remind me of this guy from denmark who was the first to actually teach me anything about computers. I still tell people the same phrase he told me the first time we talked, and you just said it "google is your friend."

He got me started, and from there I learned enough basic shit to make money from working on peoples devices as a non licensed ghetto computer shop. The xbox 360 and the red ring of death were huge money makers.

Thank you for your help with my problem and for the nostalgic memories, it has been a long time since i have thought about him.

If it is fungus for some insane reason, take it appart, use cotton swabs and high % rubbing alcohol to clean it. Let it dry, reassemble. And just incase this actually needs stated, don't use the alcohol any of the electrical component's.

Depends on what you're trying to back up. Cloud storage is awesome for certain things, but you really need a third-party software for syncing and backup management if you want to make a habit of it, because the first-party clients suck, almost as a rule.

Amazon offers unlimited cloud storage for $60/year, and Arq can encrypt that pre-transmission so Amazon can't sift through your shit.

Overclocking a 5930k. Cooled by a H110iGTX.
Using http://www.overclock.net/t/1411077/haswell-overclocking-guide-with-statistics as a point of reference.

CPU Ratio: 45 (4500MHz)
CPU Ratio Mode: Fixed (EIST/Intel Turbo Boost OFF)
Ring Ratio: 35 (auto was default but guide said I should set manually to default to prevent overvoltage)

DRAM Frequency: 2133MHz
XMP off
DRAM Timing Mode: Auto
VCCIN Voltage: 2.0 (default is auto)
CPU Core Voltage: 1.275
CPU Ring Voltage: Auto (default)

Running aida64 for 8 hours netted me a perfect stress test. However, my computer would hard freeze, no BSOD or reboot or anything.

Lowered my RAM back down to 2133. Ran OCCT two times for an hour both times. No errors. Randomly hard froze again.

Upped voltage to 1.299 from 1.275, same problems.

I'm not at home to fuck with this shit but what would cause hard freezing to happen?
I expect BSODs and restarts but not outright freezing with no stuttering audio, though that happened last night after a successful OSST stress test.

Any tips?

Why does openSUSE get so much hate? Veteran Linux user here and I've come to like the distro quite a bit. It's beautiful, but can be considered by some as a more demanding distro system resources.

Call them when you can and explain the situation, then.
Which ISP ?
>>
My pc boots up once for a second then off, then again on and finally turns on completely on the 2nd try.

Motherboard is a gigabyte 990fx-ud3 I think it's rev 3.0

Read that it has something to do with disabling turbo boost to overclock or something causes that and if you just leave it on it'll stop, but I won't be able to oc.

Also cpu is a fx 8320 @ 4.2ghz.

Is there a bios update or some shit to get it to boot up normally?
>>
>>51776749
I'm italian, fastweb. it's one of the 2 that give this kind of speeds, it's supposed to be pretty good
>>
>>51776838
Oh, I know nothing about that ISP then. I was hoping you might have been from Denmark, then I could've told you if you might actually be getting throttled.

But yeah, call them up tomorrow. Hopefully they'll just send you a replacement modem if that turns out to be the issue. Without knowing the situation in Italy, I'd guess that the modem is the ISP's property, and getting it replaced shouldn't cost you anything.

I'll ask again

Are toshiba's external HDDs generally shit? or I just got a bad one?

It keeps unplugging just by breathing into it
>>
So I swapped my laptop HDD for a SSD. Installed arch onto it and everything went gr8 m8. But now it dosen't boot. The computer seems to recognize the SSD it's even named in bios.

Get some jewtel corperation initilazing boot.
Media test failure check cabel.
What do?

seriously. why dont these CPU cooler companies realize that some people cant fit a damn ram in. I almost bought one on sale lastmonth but then i see people without room for a ram slot.

Is it bending said RAM slot ? If not, it's fine.

Is there any reason to prefer sources as list files in sources.list.d over entries in sources.list?

150gb just went missing from my download folder in my internal HDD.

Is this a sign that it is dying? It didn't show any other sign of it up until now, and I swear I did not delete all those files.

DATA1 of course...

did you tried to install linux and fail in the past?
>>
>>51777005
If they made them taller, they wouldn't fit in a buch of cases. If they made the actual heatsink & fan smaller, you'd obviously get worse cooling performance. The best thing would be if ram manufacturers stopped putting le ebin heatsinks on their ram modules when it's not needed.
>>
Why is windows so bad at handling different monitors, or is it my 3gb gpu?

1440p ultrawide at 60hz that lags like fuckall
144hz 1080p that runs mostly fine until I click over to another monitor at 60hz then I'm pretty sure windows just fucks everything up and starts showing things as 60hz on the 144hz monitor
1080p 60hz that cant play video properly because of the 144hz

>want to eliminate 144hz monitor since it seems like a factor in my issues
>do it and my ultrawide is still laggy as shit despite a 5ms response time and 60hz

what do? I blame it on windows 7 mostly

i tell people ever time not to get ram with fucking heatsinks that stick up above the PCB. people never learn or listen.

why do companies even make those retarded things?!

that's an all-in-one computer, you cant hook up your other computer's monitor cable to that, you fucktard. even if you did, it would still only show your windows PC screen because it's IMPOSSIBLE to boot more than one OS at the same time on one computer.
you can however run a virtual machine and have that full-screen on the second monitor.

>>51775192
>What's a good graphics card/cpu that can handle this well?
i5 and 960 or 270.

>>51776009
the sticky thread links a list with some of the updates with the spy shit.
dont know about your question.

>>51776203
maybe. but you should just buy a new cable, they're cheap as fuck and there will be one thing less that could break or glitch.

>>51776251
unplug disk 1 and install on disk 0. i guess that is the SSD.

>>51776308
i doubt things are gonna fit it, especially if you're buying a cpu cooler and above average gpu.

>>51776350
set all ram shit back to auto. you dont need to touch that.

also what mobo?

>>51776950
toshiba have reliable HDDs, you're just unlucky.
and external drives are just same like internal once but come packaged in a case.

>>51777005
you mean why doesnt the RAM companies stop making fucking retarded heatsink designs?
huge heatsinks on RAM does NOTHING. it is completely useless. stop buying ram with fucking heatsinks you idiot

Tech illiterate here
If I copy and paste files from the x86 folder from a pc to another will progams just werk or they actually need to be installed?
>>
>>51776065
It has been ages since I last used python, but can't you try something along the lines of:

employees = {
1: ['Alpha', None],
2: ['Beta', 1],
3: ['Chi', 1],
4: ['Delta', 2],
5: ['Epsilon', 4],
6: ['Phi', 2],
7: ['Gamma', 1],
8: ['Eta', 3]
}

def hierarchical_levels(identifier):
if (identifier == 1):
return 0
else:
return (1+hierarchical_levels(employees[identifier][1]))

I tried that and it works but im not sure if it's what you actually want
>>
>>51777442
you mean program files(x86)? as long as you copy and paste them and you leave the originals it's fine
>>
>>51777442
maybe. depends on how the program works. some need the registry and paths you get when installing.

it's better to just reinstall.

Should I get the Asus Xonar DSX soundcard if my onboard's audio mic input is beyond fucked? I produces noise and plugging the mic into front input or jack extenders doesnt work either. Cheap usb soundcard don't change much. The mic itself works flawlessly.
