No Debianized software is /g/ approved, and neither is Debian (or anything from it).

Firefox is still better in most benchmarks. Has less memory consumption. Is not a botnet client. Has a flaming fox for a logo. Better plugins.

Well, /g/ is not a single-minded entity but probably all browsers that are text-based, keyboard-driven, certain forks of FF including SeaMonkey which is actually a cousin, Otter Browser, QtWeb, and Fifth.
>>
>>51768821

So is new Opera and I've ended up using it. I suppose the differences in this one bothered me too when I made the switch, and now I've just gotten used to them. One thing I like is the snappier scrolling in Opera, I tried turning off smooth scrolling in Vivaldi but then it still felt really weird. Maybe I'm just becoming a cranky old man
>>
>>51768832
>tgw they would rather take opera to the grave than make it open source

What the fuck is the Opera and Vivaldi guys problem?
>>
>>51768857
Well... When I use muh closed source OS (Windows 10) so why not use a closed source browser, not really a big deal to me, it's based off Chromium anyway. Also I dual boot with Linux but still use Opera when I'm on Linux anyway it's the most responsive and smooth experience for me.
>>
>>51768902
You are free to do whatever you want. I just think it's stupid of one basically dead browser, and one up and coming browser, that neither wants the extra interest from going open source.

A lot of us are getting tired of Firefox and would love a alternative, and I wouldn't mind it being Opera or Vivaldi, but only if they got their heads out of their asses.

I mean. Chrome kids are never gonna switch from Chrome, they don't care about browsers enough to switch. Not sure why any one them even bother.
>>
>>51768857
Also kindly do not associate me with the Vivaldi guys because Vivaldi is shit.
>>
>>51768925
I would really like if Opera wen't open source so I guess I agree with you in that aspect.

/g/ hasn't approved a specific web browser yet. All browsers are faulty and botnet, then you'd better stick to Chrome until Edge gets ad-block extensions.

Who Safari here?
Anyone got that weird full screen bug in youtube after updating to 10.11.2?

Safari would be better than Chrome if it had favicons and proper https everywhere support. Still use it though since it syncs well with my poorfone

Having less RAM is not a fucking legitimate reason, if your memory can't afford graphical browsers with good features, go back to text only browsers.

No, what do you mean?

I keep jumping between Safari and Chrome. Safari feels better but Chrome gives that peace of mind that everything just werksâ„¢
>>
>>51768770
Have you ever looked at the task manager when running chrome?
>>
>>51770094
have you updated yet? Then try using the fullscreen mode in safari. It only maximazes 1/4 of the screen and the rest is black until you press inside the video
Agreed about Chrome but I gotta admit that the new page and address bar of safari is kinda handy

Guys I'm a very long time user of Firefox but recently I've been quite frustrated with the whole donations begging, I'm thinking of switching to chrome. Should I? I know of the botnet, but considering I'm logged into my jewgle accounts on FF all the time, isn't it pretty much the same if I use Chrome instead? Don't really care about the ram consumption, I have enough of it.

Chrome has adblocking and some extensions, I think I'll be alrght. But is there some definite reason to avoid it?
>>
>>51770487
Really botnet is the only reason. It's a bit more botnetty by default but you can turn almost all of it off easily.
>>
i've been using firefox for as long as i remember.

Are you literally actually clinically fucking retarded?
>>
>>51768770
To be more specific, it consumes less RAM per tab.

When you go over 20 tabs, Chrome starts slowly but surely shitting itself. Firefox can easily go in the 500+ without noticing it. Mine only starts stalling at over 1000 loaded tabs.

If you use a botnet os that's all the more reason to reduce the botnet wherever possible, you are basically taking twice the amount of botnet dick by choice. You deserve to get spied on.

Firefox consistently uses less resources compared to any browsers (out of the big ones) I've tried.
Only meme browsers compare in terms of resource footprint, but they are not useful for everyday usage.

vivaldi is our only remaining hope. Firefox is becoming utter shit, regular chrome is shit, ie is shit, everything is shit. And normies will defend that. Vivaldi at least just up and tells them other browsers are stupidly simple and useless and they instead want to be something for powerusers.
>>
>>51774930
qupzilla is 10/10 but shit direct rendering of Qt5 with some cards might break it

Using Firefox Dev Edition 64 bit, its faster then Chrome 64 bit and less ram usage lets say around 200 - 250 ram. Try it out for yourself, ooh yeah and no lag.
>>
>>51775125
It's not even out on anything but beta yet. The whole point of Vivaldi is customization.
