i have a friend that thinks $ = quality rating, and he has a case with fucking 6 doo-doo fans

don't understand that shit at all

I would if they didn't look like THAT.

Corsair one's are doing just fine for me tho.

Proper austrian engineering and a six year warranty? Of course I bloody do!

Anyway /g/ais. What's with the poop? The colour scheme is based on picrelated little guy. An Athene Noctua. Ain't he a cute li'l bugger.
>>
>>51765603
it's so they stand out

you can tell it's a noctua immediately
>>
I've got 2 of them on my D15. They are nice fans, but they are too expensive for what they are. Especially when there are other good options for quiet case fans.

I just finished installing an NH-L9x65 on my mini-itx build.

Prime95ing it now, and it is staying around 60-65 C.

Pretty good for a low profile cooler. D15 just wouldn't fit.
>>
I got a Hyper 212 Evo today. So much quieter than the stock cooler
>>
>>51765751
Neat.

Anyone tried an NH-L9i on something around 130W TDP? I'm looking to build something compact but overpowered.
>>
>>51765832
>NH-L9i

I used to have that on an i3.

Had some heat issues, but the case it was in had ZERO airflow.

130w is gonna kill it.

L9x65 is a better choice.

>The NH-L9i is a highly-compact low-profile quiet cooler designed for use in small form factor cases and HTPC environments. While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power). Please consult our TDP guidelines to find out whether the NH-L9i is recommended for your CPU.

I wish they would make a GPU cooler too.

Only think on my computer that makes noise at idle is GPU.

I just bought one today. Now I have to wait 2 days to get it. I hope its awesome because it looks like my ass after I splattered shit on the wall at a Walmart bathroom because of the the lunch I had at taco bueno at 12:34pm. Needless to say the partially digested beans stuck to the wall.

Of course not. They seem to be pretty popular around here and I wouldn't dare spend money on anything /g/ likes.

It was pretty solid, could run almost anything.

Ended up upgrading to a Corsair 250D so I could fit a bigger GPU (though I never got around to buying one).

I like the 250D, but it is big enough I might as well gone full sized.
>>
you know they release non poo colored fans why would you choose poo colored when you can get the non poo colored variety?
>>

What if I buy once of dem silent on idle psu's and silent on idle gpu's like 970 strix ? Will that mean that my hard drive will be the loudest thing in the case ? Provided I have dodo fans for the case and by silent I mean not spinning at all
>>
Shit just hit the fan
>>
Honestly these are just a gimmick. The stock fan is quiet as shit when idling.

How level are the bottom of noctua's heatsinks? If I lap my CPU is it worth lapping, too?

When I'm playing a game I don't want my computer to sound like it's going to take off.

Not to mention they keep your CPU much cooler.

You also GET the look and feel of having a gigantic square turd in your PC. Literally no cons. Except that they are not cheap.
>>
>>51765487
I had a D14 before I upgraded to custom water. It was well-made, quiet, and performed well, and the fans are worth it over generic crap. The problem with Noctua fans is that they are as expensive as proper server fans, but not as good. My watercooling uses PWM Gentle Typhoons which weren't much more than the Noctuas.

I was using nh l12 for my 6700k at 4.6ghz and its hitting 77c max with two intake and kne exhaust. I doubt a l9i will perform any better

Using d14 right now. Fan clips are pushing my gpu backplate...

Probably gonna be getting an i5 4590 soon, will the stock cooler be enough or should I get the poop fan?
>>
>>51769586

Since your not overclocking the stock fan is enough.

Matter of fact I just bought 5x A14 PWM fans and NH D15 for my new case. Get on my level /g/
>>
>>51768695
Nidec are making them again.

ambient noise is nearly as loud except at nightime and with headphones on at low volume I can't even hear them regardless of time.

I wouldn't even bother with higher quality fans, if I am to spend that kind of money and overclock I'd rather do it right and get a water cooling solution instead.

>>51769871
water cooling is in about most cases louder than quality air cooling with fans, also not really that much cooler.
really shit cooling/noise to $ ratio.
>>
>>51767799

You can barely fucking see the cpu cooler.
>>
>>51767885

I had those, but half went out in a fucking month.

Never buying that trash again. At least when my Noctua dies they will replace it for free.

>>

>>
>>51770055

I hear r9 380 is pretty damn quiet too.

Is there a sound listing for cards somewhere?
>>
>>51770055
can confirm
have an evga 970 ssc with the 2.0+ acx fan and the fans usually dont even run at all.
even certain games like for example diablo 3 on 1080p and everything on high dont even trigger the fans.
>>
>>51765487
Actually I recently bought myself an NH-U9B SE2.

Looks like a beast, and mounting it was a lot easier than I expected, and this is my first time changing CPU cooler away from stock, so I'm happy it went as well as it did.

My old cooler would make a lot of noise at high speeds (1300+ RPM), but this one is completely silent, and keeps it cooler than my old one at just 700RPM.

Very happy.
>>
>>51770210
Plenty of 970s run without fans at low loads. MSI / Anus Strix etc

>>51770109
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2015-vga-charts/28-Noise-Idle,3691.html has a shitload of cards.

Can't comment on their methods / controls, but a good starting point.
>>
>>51765960
Just put a cpu cooler on it.
>>
>>51770269

Can you actually do that? Aren:t the mounts different?
