Here is what will happen. Intel will release i9 chip and obsolete the i3.
So the i3 becomes i5, i5 becomes i7 and i7 becomes i9. All prices will go up.
Plebs will think that greater number will lead is greater speed. But in fact, speed will stay the same.
I thought 3/5/7 was some kind of magic marketing numbering?

The current lineup makes a lot of sense, it just sucks for consumers.
introducing a new processor would not be beneficial to them at all. you have to remember most of their consumers are retards. they finally have a system that makes senses to the layman, why would they ruin that?

It sorts their entire product line into 3 different groups for the average person who doesn't know shit about CPUs.
i3 = cheap, low performance
i5 = "normal price", mid-range performance
i7 = expensive, high performance
Normal people don't know what the # of cores/threads or clock speed means other than some general notion that "higher is better". They don't know what the SKU suffixes at the end of a processor's model# mean (the "K" at the end of 4690K, or the "U" at the end of 6567U). They don't know what TDP means and don't know what the L3 Cache is... All that shit is just noise to them so Intel came up with i3/i5/i7 to give normies some sort of idea about what they're buying. To most people, i3/i5/i7 means little more than low/medium/high.
