Hey /g/, what linux distro is the best for desktop users who are familiar with linux, but only want to deal with bullshit occasionally?
I think its either Debian or Xubuntu (software compatibility), and I'm leaning toward using Debian.

Debian is what fits better the scenario, absolutely. Debian, or as I've recently taken calling it "Linux minus Autism".

Go with Debian. Install it and customize it how you want then just forget it. Works really good man.

fedora

Opensuse, Mint, Ubuntu server + gnome. Just be sure to make the fs LVM in case something gets fat fingered.

Xubuntu is a good shout, I use it myself and the system doesn't need much maintenance. Make sure you install it from a Ubuntu mini.iso, and then during install just select Xubuntu core packages in tasksel

ubuntu+xfce if you are a desktopfag
ubuntu+openbox or i3 if you like ricing
