That was back in July if i remember correctly. But now that the hype has died down what does /g/ think about this system? I have windows 8 and I kind of want to upgrade to windows 10.

well here's a question that i have. How does Windows 10 deal with now-windows software? I have programs like Tor, VLC, Avast, etc. Will the new install delete all these programs? Will Windows 10 block all of them? And does Windows 10 have a good Word processor like 7 and XP? I loved Windows Picture Manager. Does W10 have a similar program?

So I'm building a PC for someone and they don't want "HAXOR CRACKED WINDOWS" but to keep the build cheap, I didn't include windows, it was a very fragile situation when it comes to pricing.
So I'm gonna pirate that shit anyways and haven't pirated since W7 with the loader. Is there any way to easily pirate W10 directly or do I have to install W7 first, activate it with the loader, and then install W10 with the key? I'd love to pirate it directly to mislead the person.

Performance is really good. Windows 7 used about 1.5 - 2GBs or RAM at start, Windows 8.1 used about 1, and it's about the same if not a little more. With a SSD you boot in 10 seconds or less (I really didn't count, but when I was trying to get into my BIOS before I knew it, I was in Windows already)

You can uninstall most of the garbage apps and turn off ALMOST all of the botnet crap. You still can't uninstall the xbox app (which has the game DVR turned on BY DEFAULT, seriously what the fuck) and you can't fully disable auto update or turn off windows defender permanently.

I didn't really feel like making a thread on /r/windows10 about it, but I suppose it makes sense to post somewhere:
* I _had_ some pretty bad and persistent stuttering problems across all my multimedia stuff when I switched to Windows 10. This is all games, all music, all videos, etc.
* Basically, System (or ntoskernel exe) would have a CPU "spike" from about 0% usage to 3% or so every 7 minutes, which would give me a microstutter.
* I don't know if any of the solutions I found online even helped, but the BIGGEST help -- the thing that actually fixed the problem -- was getting rid of Deluge and switching to qBittorent. I imagine getting rid of other CPU intensive programs (anything that constantly takes 5% or higher -- 10% in the case of my Deluge) would fix other people's problems. That, and things that fuck with data at all.
The thing to note is that even for CPU intensive stuff that I run now -- games and emulators -- there's no stuttering at all.

It's like win7 but it spies on you, and has a bunch of web-enabled bloat ("do you want to share your wifi password with your facebook friends? :^)") that you really don't need. Cortana is utter garbage, even more useless than Google Now. Benchmarks show it performs worse than a clean win7 install. There are literally zero redeeming qualities.

I just upgraded about a week ago. As far as I can tell it's functionally the same as windows 8. The only annoyance is that now when I tell my computer to shut down, it won't shut down. The screen goes black and there's no audio/visual output, but my computer won't turn off. I have to manually press and hold the power button. Other than that, it's the same.

1) System Sounds volume is all fucky. It resets itself to max on every reboot. Run it down. Resets itself to max every time a system sound plays. The only way to make it stay is to open the volume mixer, set the volume, and leave the mixer open. Oh, and after changing the system sounds volume a few times, it just stops working entirely and there are no system sounds anymore. I'm not the only person who had this problem.
2) Fucky UI. Metro here, Win 7/8ish there, Win XP themed in some dialogs, Windows 2000 battleship gray when you dig deeper.
3) Adds nothing. I already had tools that worked great for virtual desktops, and vastly superior window snapping functionality.
4) Ties the secret product key to the motherboard by writing it to UEFI BIOS. If you change your motherboard (like I did, thanks to a faulty Asus mobo), your install is now invalid. You have to reinstall 8, then upgrade again. If you rebuild your PC, you can't take your install with you anymore, as you could like all the chumps still running the same XP copy they bought a decade ago.

Same here. I'm used to hitting Ctrl-Esc and then just typing "cal" and hitting enter to get Calc. Classic Shell always pulls that shit up instantly.

I can't open a newtabe by clicking with two fingers and the scroll down with the extreme right part of the pad doesn't work either.
