I used to Programm 7 and 9 axis cnc milling machines with CAD/CAM at a pretty large factory in Germany. It's gorgeous to look the workpiece transform. Also the paycheck was enormously high. Anyway I quit after 10 years that I had to work with them, that's because I had to go to so many trainee seminars for extra qualification.

Im now working as a service mechanic which always was a dream of mine, repairing machines in a not so big factory. Paycheck really got a big cut, but I love the work.

highly depends on the extrusion machine they are using. since they are essentially boiling starch and water in it they get a non Newtonian fluid that has a a higher viscosity the more stress you put on it. so when they want to press more mass through the openings they would also have to use exponentially higher power to keep the machine running.

there is a break even point for the extrusion machine and they most likely picked the amount of nozzles that yields the most pasta in relation to the energy needed to run the machine.

That little wheel thing's functions are the only things that I can't do with the old Bundeswehr spade I inherited. And it doesn't have a bottle opener. Because basically everything with a durable straight metal edge is a bottle opener.

No shit, the horizon is going to look flat until you're near or past the atmosphere. Actually, even if the earth were flat the horizon would look flat until you could get high enough to see the whole edge. Luckily the earth is around so we can orbit around it and see it from all angles.

Fiber has been prevalent since the mid-80s. The O in SONET is Optical. We've just pushed fiber to the home / business now (in the markets where telcos are spending $$ at least).

Fiber is simply expanding out from core/backbone (inter office links for you telco folks) to prem.

So yeah - you could add fiber to the list. Near future connectivity will be mainly Fiber, Ethernet, IP(v6) (OSI order :^) )

I don't know about the server room, but I have been to a railway control room with similar setup as the webm, they don't really care dust there.
From what I've heard, some of the server rooms have a separate ac system, those without should at least get a filter. A special one got a wire fence floor, to allow dust to go through, not sure if it's true or not.
