Why Google still allows Adblock on Chrome?
>>
>>51722955
>cost

it doesn't cost anything to block ads

Theres an old saying that goes "its not profit till its in my pocket"
>>
>>51722955
>ad block is stealing revenue
If it wasn't ad block then I'll just not install flash so all those flash based ads go away

If it wasn't flash based, then I won't install java and ads that rely on java extension will go away

if it wasn't flash based and its HTML5 based or what ever then I'll just block the extension from running by adding the server to a black list

oh am I stealing then because I did manually what every fucking ad block program does automatically?
>>
>falling for the advertising jew
>>
>>51723015
No, but you missed the point by at least a mile. Nice going.
>>
>you're stealing from Television networks by leaving to use the bathroom during commercials.
Go back to leddit, shill
>>
Non-ad-clicking commie terrorist sympathizers detected! If you don't click every advert on each page you visit, you hate freedom and are un-American
>>
>>51723059
I dont think it was him who missed the point m9
>>
>>51722955
Because that would kill their user base. They make more money selling your browsing history than they do through ads.

>advertisement companies actually believe this
>>
>>51723138
I'm pretty sure it was, since the graphic is not saying anything about specific ways to block ads. That faggot made assumptions.
>>
>>51722955

What is the deal with you faggots supporting ad's ?

Who are you?

Where do you come from?

Go fuck yourself.
>>
>>51723189
No, they don't. They are fully aware that the losses due to ad-blocking are far less than what this graph conveys. The graph is a very obvious exaggeration for those that rely on ad-revenue as a tool to push their agenda against blocking intrusive ads and malware-loaded pages.
>>
>>51723198

Hey, anon.

Fuck you.
>>
>>51722955
I always wonder whether the people who make these arguments fast forward the ads of tv shows they recorded. Also what about movies, do they specifically arrive on time to watch all the ads and trailers?
>>
>>51723261
U mad bro? What's wrong? Is your autism speaking? Should we listen?
>>
The is no such thing as ad blocking. The web is a pull medium. I don't block ads, I merely decline to request them.
>>
I use adblock, but I unblock websites I like because I'm not a little prick, as long as its non intrusive, which means no pop ups, no overlays, no 30 second ads before videos, no animation, no bright colors, and no fucking sound, as long as your adverts meet my criteria, I will gladly accept ads, hell, I've even actually bought products because of non intrusive adverts.

Yeah, anon. What could go wrong?

Go suck a dick

I have seen thousands and thousands of ads, and i remember to not buy their shit. When i use adblocker they actually profit on me because when i dont see their ads they are not on my boycott shitlist.
>>
>>51723326

I use to take adblock off for 4chan because Moot asked me to but then someone reminded me that he's gone and so I am blocking the ad's on here.

I was switching browsers and 4chan literally redirected me to a 'install flash player' page.
>>
>>51723415
I know, right? This is what people who disable ad-blocking for some websites sound like. They make no fucking sense.
Why would you voluntarily open up to a potential security risk? Malware is easy to deploy using bogus ads. What makes you think your precious website will never be in that position to automatically serve you some bullshit software?

on 4chan. Hiroyuki nagasaki commented on it as well and pretty much said "I don't know"

I hope they just switch to mobile, fuck mobile users with their sub-par specifications that can achieve nothing but open 2 chrome tabs. They can drown in their own adds for all i care, they are the only people who will fall for microtransactions anyway so why not just keep the cancer in one place and move the advertisement business to them.
>>
>>51723241
this
>>
>>51723431
I was doing the same but then when m00t stepped down and the mods tooks over they switched to some 3rd party ad server
>>
>>51723727
>2 chrome tabs
Ive got 50 tabs of porn open
With ad block of course
>>
I for one am very happy the attention has turned from piracy and to ad blocking.
>>
>>51722955
>Why Google still allows Adblock on Chrome?
Maybe because if they didn't, too many users would jump ship back to Firefox.

>that chart
I guess it works the same way as the cost of piracy:
cost = (profits I want to have) - (profits I'm actually making)

The ads generate more revenue if they get clicked more. Do you suppose maybe the people who install AdBlock might not be the sort of people who would be clicking lots of ads in the first place?

To me as a user, the cost of using AdBlock is zero. The cost of not using it is slower page loads because of slow ad networks, distraction because of annoying flashing ads, and danger of malware infested ads that occasionally get onto even reputable ad networks. The rising number of AdBlock users should be a sign to advertisers that they need to clean up their act and stop making ads so hazardous and annoying that so many people want to block them.
>>
>>51725166
Although I somewhat agree with you, the equation actually equals
Profits i want to have - Profits I'm supposed to have (based on visitors per webpage, or in the case of piracy, copies of the product in use)
>>
>>51722971
This.

I've literally never clicked on a popup, banner ad, or advertisement before a video, and I don't think I've purchased anything that actually gets advertised in them.

If I want something, I research the brands and make a decision myself, not on the obviously-fucking-lying commerical about it.
>>
>tfw 6S
>tfw finally Adblock on phone as well

I will never see an ad again in my life other than street adverts.

Feels good man

How about we talk about our rights to use our software as we see fit?

Nobody else controls what we see on our web browser screens. WE DO. We should be able to alter how the source code of a web page is displayed to however we like. This is a fundamental human right. And guess what? If Chrome and Firefox and IE make that impossible, we will build a new browser that respects our rights. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LOOK AT ADS.

Software that does not allow you to control it to do what you would like it to do is an injustice. It's basically slavery. You are a slave to the company who creates it. It dictates to you what you see and therefore what you think.
>>
>>51722955
Advertising is immoral. Block ads for Jesus.
>>
>>51726025
>If Chrome and Firefox and IE make that impossible, we will build a new browser that respects our rights
What a naive goy.
>>
I always wondered how websites actually get revenue through ads, no one I know doesn't have an ad blocker.

Granted I installed one for my mom and dad, but still.

Maybe for shit like YouTube or news network websites a lot of "nor more" visit, but especially tech news and such. I would expect at least 95% of their user base would use an ad blocker
>>
>>51722955
Why Hiroyuki still allows OP be fag on 4chan?
>>
>>51726143
Just switch to open source chromium.
>>
>>51726167
>nor more
That's supposed to be "normie"
>>
>Boo hoo muh lazy money

Seriously, fuck people who speak against Ad Blocking, I said once and will say it again...They are standing in favor of a deprecated business model, that infringes upon the user's freedom and has potential to jeopardize their security.

If you make good shit, users will decide whether or not you deserve their ads money. Simple as that. Ad blocking helps to raise the standard of online content, which nowadays is just rehashed shit for the most part.
>>
in the 15 years or so of browsing the internet, i dont think ive clicked a single advertisement
>>
>>51722955
It's rather simple reasoning actually: people would just switch to Firefox.
>>
>>51722955
>The Cost Of Blocking Ads

YOU'RE NOT ENTITLED TO THAT REVENUE ASSHOLES.

How long until adblocking will be declared piracy?
>>
>>51726229
Ads are just going to be replaced by product placement and 'native advertisement' when enough people block them. Websites where this is not possible will be paywalled.
>>
Setting aside the obvious being: >>51722971
>>51725943

Costing profit for.... Who.... Small website developers make less than a few dollars forms ads. It's big website developers who are "suffering", and unless they're a news site they should really just change their business model.

The "ur hrting small bzsnss" thing doesn't work here, but it's being used.
>>
>>51726229
5-6 years max.
>>
"Blocking Ads" is kind of a misnomer in the first place, and the reason Google can't stop extensions from doing it is because they utilize the basic fundamentals of HTTP to work.

When you access a web site, you request content from that site. When you "block ads", you simply choose not to request content from known advertisement URLs. Some fancier adblockers will modify the page to hide the spot the banner would have been, but for the most part they all just work exactly how the web is intended to work.

The entire HTTP protocol would have to be redesigned if they wanted adblocking to go away. Or come up with a new funding model that actually is compatible with the web instead of forcing legacy ideals into a new medium.
