Windows 10 looks like garbage, so does 8. You're probably just basing your opinion of linux off the shit you see in weeb desktop threads.
When I put the taskbar at the bottom of the screen even my mom can figure this shit out. Click on the firefox icon, done. When she needs to open Libreoffice it's right there in the start menu under "office". I didn't have to explain any of that to her.
Added bonus is she doesn't have to wait the extra 30 seconds to boot and open a webpage to let the windoze tracking drivers load. I've timed a power off -> google test on Lubuntu and Botnet 10 on the same hardware and it's literally a 40 second difference. Windows 7 is a bit better but still ~15 seconds slower. And no, my mom shouldn't need an i7 and an EVO 950 just to fix windows shitty coding by default.
