I still use one of the old 80 gig video ipods. Got it the first year they came out like 10 years ago or something.
Used it every day throughout high school and college. Now it sits in my car plugged in for music on the go. The battery even holds a good charge still, 20-30 hours of use on a charge.

You can install qt4.8 from there with a modern gcc.
As text editor I'm using textmate, macVim and kdevelop from https://github.com/adymo/homebrew-kde.
Qt5 stuff won't work as they stopped supporting powerpc. X11 Qt probably should work but didn't tried compiling that on my powerbook g4.
Or just use openbsd with reasonably good graphics support.
