I recently saw the file hierarchy on a colleagues computer and was surprised.
His directories were all custom, in place of the standard "Program Files" etc..
It was something like this:
C:\APPS
C:\CLOUD
C:\DOCS
C:\GAMES
C:\TOOLS
C:\USERS
C:\WORK
C:\WINDOWS
Is this a common thing?

>apps
Goddamn fucking makes me rage.
Every time someone uses the term "app" Steve Jobs anally rapes a kitten to death.
And no, that is not really a common thing.
>>51712835
Program Files is just a folder.
>>51712870
But to be fair, some programs are hard coded to look in C:\Program Files
fucking with the default becomes a pain, every installer you run into will obviously install in the windows default, not your special snowflake directory.

See this is what I'm shocked by.
It would be such a pain in the ass to change all of the defaults in programs.
Is it possible he uses some kind of 3rd party file management software that takes care of everything?
Similar to a theme manager that edits registries?

But he's dead... So is there a skeleton around boning kittens?
>>51712977
He's trying to bone them
>>51712835
I recommend prefixing with numbers
01. Apps
02. Pics
03. Linux ISO
04. Gentoo Ports
05. SteamApps
06. Anime
07. Pyladies
08. ModelViewCulture
09. FemFreq
Like that...
>>51712835>>51712867
Yes.
>>51712887
>>51712902mklink /J "C:\Program Files" C:/APPS
mklink /J "C:\Program Files (x86)" C:/APPSx86
But you have to delete them first

FemFreq
bait
>>51712835
I do use a non-standard C:\Programs for portable programs.

this, junctions are the equivalent of hard links in the windows world
I suppose you can change the %PROGRAMFILES% environment variable.
