And they do it because people buy it. It's profitable, that's why they continue to do it. Why do you think it's priced that high? There's a coloration with price and demand. It's business 101. If there wasn't a high demand, price would naturally drop. Also, the entire industry doesn't only revolve around anime sales, they got tons of other goodies like figurines, video games and more.
