I have a problem
After dusting my PC the gpu doesn't output video but the monitor gets a cable disconnected prompt when I unplug the HDMI cable from the GPU (R7 260x, factory OC)
I've checked and everything is plugged in the way it should, I reseated the gpu repeatedly and nothing works
I also tried a VGA cable with a DIO adapter that is confirmed to work with this gpu-monitor combo from before
Apart from rip gpu, what could be wrong?

DVI.
I hate stuff like this.
Possibly try and reset the bios? Maybe the video is being output through the cpu's gpu?
Recheck the pcie cable is completely plugged in at both ends again.
Test another PSU if available.

Do you hate these question threads or this kind of issue?
I'm going to try a CMOS battery reset because the onboard gpu is kill from long ago, and I don't have another PSU handy. Thank you for your attention, I will update soon

These issues where there's no certainty what the actual problem is. Then if you replace the likely problem part it turns out it was something else.

Part list:
FX 6300 underclocked to 3.2 for shitty mobo instability, cooled by master cooler hyper TX3
Tacens Mars MP600 PSU
ASROCK N68C-GS FX MoBo with no vrm cooling solution, salvaged
In addition to this, every fan spins (also the gpu's), the only end of the pci-e 6-pin was plugged in, I don't have the latest drivers because of the fanspeed issue and I fell for the win10 meme, but I don't even see the BIOS so this is unlikely to be the issue. How long should I wait before reseating the CMOS battery?

cont.
I ended up replacing a MB and a CPU to keep my last set up going and everything was working again. I thought it fixed the problem until everything shut down in a similar manner a year later and it turned out the power supply was the actual issue.

I'm not sure. You could cut the power supply off and just wait 30 seconds. That should be plenty.
You could also check the onboard gpu again once everything is reset just in case.

Did that, no results
Gave another try with discrete gpu, no display
CMOS Battery reset did nothing
Removed optical drive, mobo doesn't bleep at all, no components or vrm modules appear to be hot.
Also the PC turned on instantly after the reset when I clicked the PSU'S power switch without pressing the case's power switch

Another update: switched RAM module from slot 2 to slot 4 (this makes sense in my mobo) and nothing. I have some DDR2 (my mobo is ddr2 and 3 compatible, no problems there) and a different CPU lying around. Should I try those?
Bump because no solutions. Give me something else to try, I don't want to wait until Monday to send this to a store to test with different parts
>>51701760
Have you tried the monitor with another source?
>>51703056
I have no source other than onboard graphics and they didn't work after CMOS battery reset.
And that's very likely not the issue seeing as this happened after dusting my PC
I made sure to ground myself
I do have a laptop with video output handy but given the circumstances, is it worth a try?
>>51703134
For the effort it would take its worth eliminating the possibility
>>51703056
I tried anyway. Worked perfectly with a laptop I had lying around. Issue is definitely on the PC. I was planning to replace the mobo, but right now I just hope my gpu is not dead and the mobo is
Bumety, likely to be the last one I do.
I have a spare CPU lying around and extra compatible memory. Should I try those?
Would it also be helpful remove the CPU, reapply thermal paste and reseat the CPU back again? I've read on a few pages that it could be either a dead cpu, motherboard or PSU, and again, I don't want to wait until Monday to send my pc to a repair store.
I must get this one last bump out there. I am probably going to send this PC to test the PSU and the MoBo on wednesday anyway but I still want diagnose as much as I can.
Do you guys have any idea of what I could possibly do? With no spare power supplies
