I am assuming the only thing upgrading is the GPU as the base intel platform is fine for 5+ years.
Instead of two GTX titanX's now, get 2x GTX 980. That's ~$900 instead of $2,000+. And you get mostly the same performance except in very extreme cases.
Spend the money saved on a GPU upgrade in 2 years, in two years that would mean HBM2 or 3 memory and likely 30-50% performance gains over the titanX.
VR is really going to drive GPU development in the next 12-24 months as well.
This is a terrible time to buy 2x titanX just because the new Nivida cards are releasing in not that long and they are actually meant to be used for VR, unlike the titan Xs.

I've got a Titan X as well. Bought it for the VRAM for 3D renders and editing raw video formats. If you literally only game the 980ti would've been a better choice and costs basically half as much.
Not to say you won't be happy gaming with the TX, but if I recall correctly, the 980ti out-benches it in that department, and you need all the juice you can get as you mess with resolution scaling and/or UHD. At 1080p my TX can only push 150% resolution scale on modern games. 200% so far has always been unplayable (like 20fps).

If all things are equal, same apartment, same income, etc.
At the end of the day, i'm still better off.
Sure you'll have a more powerful computer by 10-15% for a few years. But in 2 years i'll still have that extra $1000+ I didn't spend that you did. and assuming everything else is equal, you now have to spend $1,000 more to get the same performance I will get for your original investment. The only thing you gained in this was 2 years of 10% better performance, and to me that just isn't worth the money at ALL.
It's not as if that 10% performance is the difference between playable framerates and unplayable framerates.

"4k gaming" is misleading as it makes the need for the horsepower sound uncommon, since 4k monitors still aren't anywhere near standard.
With most everyone still somewhere between 1080p-1440p, it's going to be about DSR, also called "resolution scaling." It's actually termed differently in different games (in BF4 it's just called "Scale," in Shadow of Mordor you just turn the resolution setting up beyond your native res and it performs DSR).
Like I said, on my single Titan X I only get comfortable framerates on a 1080p monitor at 150% DSR on games like Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor, and Battlefront. Still looks clean as fuck, but 200% DSR looks like the super-pristine promo videos you see for games.
