I'm trying to remove a part from an mkv.
Here is what i tried doing: split the mkv at the two timecodes before and after the part I'm not interested in.
since the keyframes do not precisely match, the middle part contains some video that i want to keep.
so I reencode the middle part with the proper start and end.
the problem is, mkvmerge cannot concatenate the initial and reencoded videos because of mismatching "codec private data". it seems like it's because the encoding settings are different, but how can i use the same settings? I cannot ask whoever did the initial conversion, is it possible to infer them from the video?

CompEng freshman here

I want to do some small project over break but I don't have an idea of what to do. I was looking to do something with a media server in my home or something with a raspberry pi.

Any suggestions for something that will take anywhere from a day to a week to do?

Beginner here at learning code.

Decided to learn C first.

I'm on Windows 10. Will most likely change to another system if I grasp coding and get into it.

Question(s):

What text editor is good for C on Windows? And also what compiler is good for C on Windows? Suggestions for other essential programs to use for practicing and using code as well please. I don't plan on using an IDE.

Try Handbrake. I'm not sure it can edit files like that.

Or you could install Movie Maker if you dont want to pirate Premier and edit it then re-encode with Handbrake.

I bought an HDMI cable to use my TV as a secondary monitor. I need a keyboard. Right now I have a gamer keyboard (MS Sidewinder X6) with a million customizable keys but it's totally overkill. I don't game on my PC (and when I do it's console shit with the PS3 controller), but I usually like gamer keyboards because they're customizable and super comfy.

Anyway, I want to replace this keyboard with a less customizable one that's also cheaper, with better build quality, but still has a few custom keys. Mandatory backlit keys, volume up and down (with a knob would be perfect, but I don't mind buttons), and a few customizable buttons to start shit automatically. I don't mind to have meme switches or shit like that, I want quiet keys with an high quality transparency which doesn't wear off (like Macbook Pro keys).

The paint wore out. Since these keys are fully transparent and then painted black, the paint just wore out. As far as text editors go, it's mostly whatever floats your boat. N++ is great, personally I've been using atom and visual studio code for writing code over the last few months or so and I love both of them.

I posted in the previous thread about how a new M2 SSD is causing boot to black screen with blinking underscore in the top left corner and preventing me from accessing BIOS or anything when I boot with it physically installed. (evga z170 mobo)

I've found that if I install the SSD when the computer is fully booted up, its detected and fully functional. But even at this point, when I restart I still get the same black screen with the blinking underscore.

Is this SSD hijacking my boot order? Its hard to tell because as long as its installed I have no way of getting to the BIOS to make sure. Maybe my mobo is trying to force the SSD as the boot drive? (I'm not trying to use it as a boot drive, but even if I wanted to I couldn't since windows recovery/reinstallation is not possible with it plugged in).

I am stumped. evga and samsung support have no idea. Nothing in google.

Depends on the model.
IIRC most of them do the caching themselves, so your computer sees a regular drive.
In some cases your computer sees an SSD and an HDD, and the caching is done through drivers.

Either case, dual booting should be fine.

there's also a matter off quality and experience, you'll have bad quality if you want to watch most things that are currently in theater cause they'll be cams, anything that's come out on disc will be fine, and you get to eat/drink whatever the fuck you want without having to sneak it in, but unless you're bigballin you'll be watching it on a monitor instead of a large screen, and then there's the comfort level of your computer chair. so really it's an esoteric sort of math based on what you care about

Okay, so I have a 4tb drive that used to be my boot drive. (HTPC project turned into "fuck me, if I just upgrade a few things, I can actually play some games on this)

I went ahead and got a 250GB SSD to use as my boot drive.

Now here's where I lose all credibility, and likely don't even get an answer...
I found a guide to clone a larger drive to a smaller one via backing up everything but the boot partition, then shrinking, then cloning, running fixmbr or whatever, and then deleting the old OS partition, and re adding the backed up data.
But, I don't have something to back up a couple TB of data, and I'm not using the "cloud" because Murrica has bad uploads.

Instead, I divided the 4TB drive, and moved the data to the larger partition, shrinking the OS partition until it was smaller than my SSD.
>cloned
>deleted old OS partition
>ran fixmbr or windows repair
>didn't boot
Fuck
>hours of troubleshooting later
>installed fresh windows on new SSD
>works...
Except it won't boot from the actual SSD, everything's installed there. But unless I select "Windows Boot Manager" in the bios (which is listed as installed on my 4TB drive) it doesn't boot.

So apparently, there's still shit on my 4TB drive, but I don't want that.
While getting rid of old partitions, I left a couple small ones, cause I wasn't sure if they were needed or not. (Didn't want to lose access to my data, and would rather not have to run a drive recovery tool on a fucking 4TB drive.)

So.
Does it matter if the boot manager is on another drive?
And if it does, how can I put it on the SSD and not risk having to reinstall a bunch of shit?

I seriously recommend just installing a fresh OS. You can always run programs off of your HDD if it matters that much to you.

Nonetheless. If you don't know what those smaller partitions are, delete them. Anything that allows a disk drive to function is stored in the first 2048 bytes of data, which you probably couldn't delete if you wanted to, anyway.

Well if the rootkit already has been installed, and there using Photoshop as the beaconing platform, then it will communicate with the rootkit to contact the C&C.

Alternatively, it could just be a bad WinApi call from whatever the cracking method is, thus propagating into kernel libraries. But anyway something from userland is trying to read something from kernel, the address 0x181 is such a low no., it could be something like a counter or a result of some calculation being fed incorrectly into the CreateFile(..."r")

I used AMD 2400 MHz RAM with the AMP profile no prob. When I try the same with the Intel XMP it shits itself and does a boot loop and once I get back in it sets it back to 1866 MHz. I'm not OCing atm. UEFI is at latest Revision.
I have a Asus Maximus VII Hero and many of the settings are set to auto so maybe that.

I'm trying to repair an LG G4 for a friend, and after replacing a cracked up screen and re-assembling it I've found a very serious issue. All of a sudden the display runs at maybe 3-5fps, it detects input just fine, but everything is unbelievably slowed down and I have no idea what is going on with it. At first I thought it was because the device was receiving so many messages at once from different applications after being off for a while, but they've died down and its still happening.

There is also a strange screen splitting issue where it will split down the middle and occasionally display static. All connections are clean and double checked, I've re-assembled the thing three times now and I don't know whats wrong.

Anyone have any good android tutorials for project architecture/code design? I want to know how to design the app code without it being messy or non-coder-friendly.

check if they (wifi manufacturer) have drivers for your OS first

>>51704829
it should say on the description or on the seller's main info page.

does that mobo support those speeds?
try setting the speed manually.

Yes, it says 2400(O.C.) I have no idea if I'm supposed to do anything apart from making sure the voltage is at what the XMP profile calls for.

first id make sure you have them in the right slots and that dual channel is active.
after that id let memtest run on them for awhile to see if they have any problems

You invented that meme.

But seriously, why ? I'm not sure how to even google it.

What's the best place to install an SSD in a HAF 912? I've already removed the middle 3.5" HDD cage. I have an HDD installed in the top slot of the lower HDD cage. I could either install the 2.5" drive cage above the 3.5" HDD cage or I could install it at the bottom of the case, between the power supply and the 3.5" cage. Does it matter?

I recently started using mpv to stream twitch livestreams, is there a way to reset the buffer (cache?) so if I pause the stream for some reason and feel like catching up to where the stream actually is I don't have to see the buffer that saved up while paused?

I'm assuming there's an input I can write inside the input.conf file but I don't know the name of it
>>
>>51705114
I tried that before and it didn't take. I followed the exact timings on the RAM stick labels and I still got the boot loop.
>>51705115
They are in the correct slots and in dual channel. I've used this as my daily driver for almost a year. I game, use MATLAB, and BOINC applications with no problem.

Here's an off the cuff question for you guys: I'm looking to but a new Intel CPU and I was looking at their websites and I noticed that some of the 6th generation Intel i5's are priced the same as some of the 4th generation i5's. I was looking to get a 4690 and saw that a 6600 was listed at the same price:

http://ark.intel.com/products/80810/Intel-Core-i5-4690-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

http://ark.intel.com/products/88188/Intel-Core-i5-6600-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz

What's going on with that?

Bonus question: Should I get an 4690?

I've been using Linux distros on and off for a few years now casually, but I'm trying to understand some of the commands better.

I'm looking up info about make.

From the description, it seems like it works when you have a makefile as part of a program. When a program does have that file, running make recompiles it after updates have been added to the program. What exactly is recompiling and why do programs need to do it? I know that recompiling to a new kernel is basically performing an update to the most recent release, but what does recompiling DO? Does it delete old files and install new ones automatically, or is it more then that?

Completely new to building PCs, can I get an identity on this case and maybe a motherboard to go with it? Some guy is selling it for 50 bucks as a whole PC, but I'm looking to upgrade or start from scratch if I can.
>>
>>51705193
doesnt matter.

>>51705269
update BIOS. run memtest.

doing it wrong.

>>51705994
how we supposed to identify the motherboard (which we cant see) by a picture of a case?

you need to read the description the seller posted or ask him whats on the inside.

also that case looks old as balls and i've never seen anything like it before. why does it even matter what case it is?
