Oh ok. Why's this such a bad thing? I mean shit, it's just a gaming console, who gives a fuck? Yeah if my PC did this I'd feel a bit sketchy but if it's a gaming console I don't really care.

NX super computer cluster when?

Eh, doesn't seem like an issue if the functionality can be turned off, I'd just opt to never use it.

Many low cost centers use PS3 Cells because they put out a fucking ridiculous level of processing for the price. If you can find PS3s in a Flea market with working boards for under $50, they can be used to make the fastest budget supercomputer in the world literally.

>>The more cloud processing time you donate, the more rewards you get. This can lead to getting free games. This could be in the form of a currency.

This has been the idea behind Bitcoin and companies like Google where someday we might be able to contribute our computing power to the cloud and in return receive a cryptocurrency provided by corporations.

This might be the only way to ensure that we'll have a steady income once robotic automation begins replacing our jobs.
>>
>>51699402
That was either the US navy or air force, yeah.
They had and probably still have a PS3 cell cluster.
>>
>>51699465
Man, the rewards are probably just going to be similar to the old Club Nintendo stuff. It's not going to be anything major, or something you can easily convert to cash.
>>
>>51699315
The patent doesn't mention a portable section, just extra hardware.
You're making shit up to stir shitflinging.
>>
>>51699315
That sounds kinda retarded, what's it actually going to be doing? It surely can't expect to process anything import for user A from user B's machine considering latency and connections issues, so they'll be cloud computing super low level server shit so Nintendo won't have to do it all themselves?

If it was that valuable then the rich would just use their robot factories to mass-produce servers and saturate the distributed computing market, dropping the payout until profit over overhead was only a few percentage points. Then the only way to make a significant amount of money would be to roll out large, efficient server farms on an industrial scale and the average citizen would be forced out of the market.

if you're referring to SAO, the games are on Sony. Actually, most of the true weeb games are on sony consoles.
>>
>>51699629
Dude, if the average household could earn enough money to be their main source of income by "selling" their extra CPU/GPU power with their inefficient shitbox of a PC then just imagine how much better the profit ratios would be for a corporately owned/run server farm. They would just scale the server farms to the point where they would maintain a ~3%-5% profit margin which wouldn't even be sustainable for the average household.

Selling your extra CPU/GPU time will never be a large source of income for the average individual.

How? If robotic automation takes over (top analysts say it'll take over half of ALL jobs over the next 10-20 years) how will people live comfortably? There must be a way or else we're all gonna be living in squalor.
>>
>>51699355
The bad thing is they patented the fucking idea of a supplemental processor. Of course I think next gen Sony/ms consoles could probably just make internal hardware upgradable but this is gonna give ninty a pretty unfair edge
>>
>>51700291

I hope someday Microsoft and Sony will just make a console that can be easily upgraded by the average casual gamer. By simply buying a $100 graphics card upgrade only requires a simple compartment to be opened and the slid into place... then BAM upgraded.

PC-Console hybrids is the future.
>>
>>51700208
The workforce constantly evolves my friend.

Before the advent of mechanical farming equipment, the average farmer could only reasonably cultivate around 40 acres using mules to pull a plow. If you didn't have a specialized trade, you were a farmer back then. Nowadays, with the right machinery, a single farmer can easily cultivate 2000+ acres of farmland. Do we have a shitload of destitute, unemployed farmers all over the place? No, they relocated, retrained, and found employment doing something else.

Similar things have happened throughout history (industrial revolution, increased use of computers, internet commerce, use of robotics in auto manufacturing, etc.) and the workforce has always adapted and reconfigured itself to not only provide people with jobs but to make those people more productive than ever before.

I'm excited, not worried, about the robotic revolution. I think it will usher in a new era of productivity and prosperity.
>>
>>51699744
It'd never happen. Look how many people drop out of mining because all that power usage drives up their bills astronomically. Power companies would realize this and hike up prices. Also with everyone's gpu and gpu fans dying prices for those would go up too
>>
>>51699560
>sucking Hackurai's dick

>>51700291
They patented a specific type of supplemental processor. I don't think any judge would accept that Nintendo now has the exclusive right to make supplemental processors for game consoles, would they?
>>
>>51700514
But once hard AI rolls around in 5-10 years and can solve all the creative problems without human input, what will be left for us to do?
>>
>>51700939
No considering all the things in the past like this. My guess is the patent only covers their own design.

You do prove a lot of good points and hold a strong position, however I can't fully agree with you because never before in history have machines been able to both see, hear, and sense their environment like today.

If a robot can someday not only perform every task we can but better, faster, and for free without health benefits or complaining... corporations will have no choice but to go with the robots every time.
>>
>>51700899

Solar panels solve that problem.
>>
>>51702526
It'd cost around $20,000 for an off grid solar panel system able to power a typical home. Now incorporate increased power usage from your botnet machine.
>>
>>51702700

Price of panels are going down every year, while their input/output of energy is increasing.
>>
>>51702700
It's okay I just store up solar energy during the night :^)

Well its certainly an interesting proposal. Much interesting approach than what Valve, Sony, etc. have tried.

NINTENDO CONFIRMED FOR FUCKING LITERAL (NOT MEME, LITERAL) BOTNET
WE WERE WARNED
>>
I don't see the problem here.
It's opt-in, not deceptive, a new (real-time consumer-product distributed computing) and potentially useful idea (if implemented right), not apparently for malice, and paid for (unlike an actual botnet).
Am I missing something?
>>
>>51699315
after buying a wiiu its gonna feel so good to not buy an actual botnet
If I wanted to suck that much dick for free games I'd join a private tracker
>>
>>51698658
Da fuck you talking about family

Sounds like they just want to implement an attachable external GPU or something. Sounds great.
>>
Yeah, this is the kind of botnet I'd be cool with.

I'm also looking forward to a console quality mainline Pokemon game if they're merging the handheld and console segments.
>>
>>51704220
>new and useful
lmao desu
this is onlive + bittorrent that you have to pay for
they are creating a need instead of fulfilling a need for their cloud gimmick
>>
>>51699315
That's actually not that bad. As long as it's completely opt-in, not "You didn't day no so I've opted you in :^)" it's an okay idea. It's essentially BOINC for Nintendo's games.
