I fucked up and lost around 600mb of images in my phones download folder. Is there any way to recover it without rooting my phone? It's a moto g xt1042
>>
>>51688850
Nope. Sorry.
>>
>>51688877
Well is there any way to root a moto g xt1042? Without losing its current data?
>>
>>51688910
Refer to DuckDuckGo for this question. /g/ ist not your personal support site.
>>
No because that would require a format. Next time format the SD card to a different type because you can reverse some types if you lose your stuff.
>>
>>51688877
>>51689046
so basically im fucked, even if i rooted my phone?
>>
Genuinely curious as to why you didn't back up this pictures if they were so important.

I mean, it was 600mb....
>>
>>51689569
this is going to sound really dumb, but how do i backup all my data on my phone? like everything and then restore it all if my phone got whiiped.
>>
>600mb

oh no... how horrible...

>said Linus, snorting after giggling to himself and pushing up his glasses. "Another stupid faggot owned and enlightened with the knowledge of DuckDuckGo," he said with a lisp. Snorting and laughing even harder, his fat rolls move in waves with each laugh. 'I didn't say Google,' he thought to himself, keen on the idea of shilling DDG for free.

Was it on the SD card or the phone memory? SD card, you can use recovery tools like Recuva, if phone memory, no idea, you're likely fucked, I'd do research online, you're just going to get shitposting here
>>
>>51689648
get ready to chew me up but it was various images of traps/otokonokos/reaction pictures/memes from 4chan and the other was danbooru stuff
>>
>>51689701
Internal Memory
>>
>>51689704
>get ready to chew me up
why, that's like 99% of people's 4chan folders
>>
>>51689646
Root and titanium backup, but there's other backup solutions, however rooting is the only way if you want a true recovery solution
>>
>>51689741
can i just copy and paste everything from the internal memory to my pc and then paste it back after rooting?
>>
>>51689723
Yeah, you're going to have a fun time, first you're certainly gonna need root, second, using your phone right now means everytime the memory is accessed data is being overwritten, your pictures are going to have some level of corruption, but you might get lucky and salvage some of them. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
>>
>>51689848
No, because the apps install files to the root folder and put configuration files etc into various areas that you won't have access to without root, this is why tech people hate manufacturers locking shit down constantly, takes away control of your device
>>
>>51689932
then how the hell do i backup my apps and images?
>>
>>51689704
>didn't save his stuff to Mega

Dude, just go lurk some more and then you can get most of them (if not some similar ones) back.

Then save them to Mega.

Or you could reset from last savepoint on your computer.

Y..You did save recently...right?
>>
>>51690110
N-No.... im a giant dummy
>>
>>51689968
Like I said, titanium backup, you need to use a program to backup apps because of their spaghetti files, pictures are different, you can do that manually if you want
>>
So... How Do i backup my phone to prepare for rooting? or unlocking the bootloader i dont know a thing about rooting ;w;
>>
>>51690319
the issue is, titanium requires root
>>
>>51690369
Yes, that's why I said you need root, without root you're highly unlikely to be capable of getting your data back, and backups are very limited
>>
>>51690501
is this just snake oil then?

Restore point DO NOT restores files.
>>
>>51689646
I just copy pictures I want from my phone to my desktop. Takes like 30 seconds.
>>
>>51688850
DiskDigger for Android but you'll need root
>>
>>51690674
i have two games that does device autentication
>>
ok from what im reading i cant Recover my data without root, Rooting will Wipe my current data, Cant Recover lost data without root for internal storage, rooting will override the deleted image data.
is that all correct?
>>
>>51689676
im laughing so hard
>>
>>51691422
someone?
>>
has anyone tried helium?
>>
i tried helium and it didnt work at all
>>
>>51691717
Have you tried Jailbreaking instead of rooting?
>>
>>51688998
>DuckDuckGo
Enjoy your botnet
>>
boil it in water, flash memory releases stored energy when heated which will revert it to a state from before you deleted the images if they were stored long enough

Theres probably professional level services that could recover your data. If I really cared about the photos I'd set the phone aside, buy a new one and research and save up to get the files recovered one day.
>>
>>51695022
like most of the images saved on my phone come from pso2 general or soccer spirits i can dig through the archive to get them plus the only ones i have trouble finding are the stuff i got from /g/ (traps, Chloe)
>>
Plug phone into PC and scan with photorec
>>
>>51688850
Hiren's Boot on your computer, they have at least one file recovery program there.

internal storage and I've tried recuva, wonder share, helium and all no luck
>>
>>51698960
no, it's MY welcome!
>>
>>51698986
Since you lost the files, did you keep saving stuff on the phone? Could be that you have overwritten stuff on those precious files.
>>
>>51699048
I mean I can't get any of them to work with my phone. Also yea I've been dumpster diving to get all my old images back. Does fireden have the old old archives before the site creation?

There are still anons using Mega?
>>
>>51700719
They are called backups, use them. On Linux I like to use rsnapshot (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rsnapshot). Works on all distros and very easy to setup.

No idea what the equivalent is for iPods.
>>
>>51701146
Isn't iPod backup just having iTunes? Like I can move files to it and save it there and vice versa. But since I've been using my phone the past few days and I have roughy 150/600mb downloaded, is all my old data gone permanently? Please respond back.
>>
>>51688850
Copy downloads folder to your computer
>run recuva on it
Worked for me
>>
>>51702457
Tried scanning the file directly and it doesn't seem to work
