I need a new antivirus because Avira pissed me off so much and I had to do so much to remove it. Im looking at AVG but Im not sure if I like it. I already have malwarebytes. Anyone recommend a better anti-virus?
>>51686427
IT technician kek here, if you want live protection get bit defender.
>>51686427
you need common sense 2015 and malwarebytes
malwarebytes and try not to get viruses in the first place retard, no AV will fully protect you you can't just go around hurr-durring downloading stupid shit.
>>51686490
hmmmm i never heard of that anti-virus, where do i get it?
dont download fucking viruses
>>51686476
I can appreciate bitdefender. I think I had it at one point and it was ok.
If something seems sketch test in VM and/or sandboxie, also malwarebytes OP
>>51686643
Nah its just those downloaders that download that hidden shit on your computer and I always overlook it because im retarded.
Mse
Also its not like I download viruses daily, lmao. This happens like once every 3 months and the adware or virus or whatever makes it impossible to get to the internet and download an anti-virus.
https://www.sophos.com/en-us/lp/sophos-home.aspx
Sophos has a new beta for a free home antivirus with a cloud dashboard (basically a very watered-down version of their Sophos Cloud Endpoint business products). Note the initial install is as slow as shit.
Also, you can get a free home license for their software/virtual firewalls but that's obviously way too complex for most non-IT peeps (50 IP limit on the old UTM/ASG firmware and 4 cores + 6 GB RAM on the new SF-OS - both OSes are available atm and the old UTM stuff isn't going to be EOL for 2-3+ years). Home license includes all of the features of the business firewalls minus some message customization stuff and other shit you don't need.
ESET. You don't even need to pirate, Get the exe of their site and just get new keys off the web every few months. Everyone spouting the Common Sense (year) meme is going to eat shit when the next Sasser comes around.

I did this and I love nod32 but even just having to google new keys was too much of a drag desu. The site I had bookmarked for it stopped being updated and I just got tired of having to google for an hour to find a working one.
Installed avira again instead. I'm actually quite happy with it. It's better than avast in any case and I doubt avg or anything is better. The only complaints I have are slow scanning and rare popups.
Do tell /g/, is there an AV that does it even better than avira? Fast, light, native ui, not squinteye or ruski bullshit like qihoo360 and kaspersky, etc
if I have firefox with ublock origin and umatrix, do I need to worry about a drive-by download?

It's literally 2 minutes every 2-3 months, I know this is 4chan but goddamn man, grow some muscle.
There's tons of sites just posting the keys in plain text, they're not hiding at all. No need for bookmarks, just make sure the date isn't too old. I just did it myself this week.
ClamWin or bust desu senpai
>>51687995
Post some keys here for a start then bruh

>This happens like once every 3 months
nigger it hasn't happened to me in years, and that's only because i was drunk and really wanted that porn

I got mine from this list, they should probably still work.
is microsoft security essentials good enough?
>>51688355
According to this:
http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php
MSE blocks about 96% of crap, which probably doesn't cover the really nasty shit. Kaspersky is almost always the best, but in practice the lightest of these that I've tried is ESET. I doubt there's a big difference between 99-100%, the really smart malware can still circumvent whatever you do.
>>51688528
I just want lightweight AV that works, how well does MSE work with malwarebytes?
>>51688558
Depending on what you're trying to do & how retarded you are, MSE is probably more than enough.
>>51688580
I'm going to install at the most firefox, a VM, and a few games I own on legit CDs like deus ex.
antivirus are literally a meme
some even increase your vulnerability by increasing the area of attack
just don't be retarded and download shit like totally_not_a_virus.exe
>>51687741
>go to eset's page to download nod32
>"this website is trying to load unsafe scripts"
>>51688594
so if I'm going to install very few things, do I really need anything other than the occasional malwarebytes scan?
