You shouldn't if you need to ask us.

well im interested but i dont know what to do with it overall

like whats the real benefit.

Im sure some of you just picked CS or smth learned programming to get a job.

I am just a neet trying to understand what you do.

to waste 1/3 of your lifetime by learning knowledge.
>>
Sometimes you can come up with scripts that automatize things that you now have to do by hand.

I have a few web crawlers that look for certain keywords in certain websites and when they find them they give me a desktop notification, that way I can only participate in discussions that I care about.

The possibilities are endless desu.

stupid answer. Its not like you were born and ahd the full purpose figured out.

Usually its like "I want to program a video game or a big useful program hehe"

but im trying to figure out what most people actually do?

its not like u are all big boy game devs or work on the next release of your top 5 iOS App that everyone thinks is mandatory.

Like what the fuck do you guys actually do?

>>51684116

useful answer thanks.

>>51684143

i dont think im too stupid. I just dotn want to put all that effort into it and then dont know what the fuck im actually doing with it.

>>
>>51684153
Stupid question. If your not curious and try it yourself you will understand why you should be programming but if you have to ask some one why should I then there is no point of you attempting to learn programming.
>>
>>51684153
Usually it's more like "I wish I could automate simple problem X" and you do so with a simple programming language after researching it, realize the benefits, learn more, and eventually reach satori. The people who think they can make something big (Facebook clone, a whole game) to boot are generally the clueless morons who have university teach them everything and spend minimal time doing spare-time research, and then eventually reach a state of "I'm at least hirable" but probably don't even know how to indent their code properly and will annoy coworkers with their idiocy.

The programming job market is oversaturated. If you're thinking of becoming a programmer, stop. Its depressing seeing the programmers I know struggling to find even the most basic entry level position even with all of their credentials.

I'd recommend learning some programming concepts, but at this time everything has become so easy that anything more then that isn't necessary. And there's already a million open source projects that cover every possible need or want for a computer. The most programming you need to do these days is maybe a shell script to automate something for you.

im not really interested in becoming a programmer

just wanted to know what actually to do with it

so like maybe i learn python to add it to my CV and make people wonder why i learned it

>Why should i learn programming?

Simple answer.
To stop being a slave to the machine and other programmers.
Write your own shit and you'll know how things work.
>>
>>51684051
It's really cool. You learn how to think differently, and you do whatever you want with it.
I make scripts to automate certain actions. Also have greasemonkey and make lots of scripts for pages. And when i need something more complex or when I want to make a cool game for me and my friends to play together i just use another language like C++ or Java.
Imagine needing something and being able to just make it.
I would love woodwork or metalwork just the same but you need materials for that. With programming you have everything you need with your computer.
>>
Why should you learn anything?
You could file for disability and get paid to rot in your own home for all I care.

Shoot your legs off using explosives. You'll be crippled for life but eligible for government assistance and a comfy NEET life.

That sounds like a problem for your area. There are always strong demand for programmers in other places.

Yea, there's demand, but the "demand" is only for the experienced programmers who have jumped around a million different places. Nobody is hiring any new programmers (except for Indians who will work at 1 cent an hour). So I don't recommend **becoming** a programmer because its just an exercise in futility, your only hope for a job is if one of the experienced guys dies but then there's going to be a thousand other guys wrestling with you to get the position.
>>
It's a lot of fun and it's productive.

My whole life until I was around 16, all I really did was play video games and watch Anime. Which are fine in their own right, and I still watch Anime and play video games today, but with programming, I'm actually able to make things. Not only that, but for a person like me who's horrible at math, it's a really fun way to become better at math.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, if you're a person who doesn't do it professionally like me, it's a great way to become more productive and learn some new things, and if you do it professionally, it's a cool way to make money.
>>
>>51684051
1. Chixdiggit
2. Enables the programmer to think more logically and mathematically
3. Makes you look cool in public when you're in vim rapidly typing out c
>>
>>51688153
IT or CS shit is like this, it will get worse loads of people going towards IT or CS thinking good job later but it will suck dick.
>>
>>51688234
Productive is a big word, loads of programmers try to reinvent the wheel and that's cool for learning but making something serious is a whole other level.
Also if your into system administration then you should rather learn scripting languages and dont bother with the rest.
>>
>>51684153
I write and mitigate exploits. I'm a piece're of shit with a lot of time. Find a technology problem. Say "I want to solve this problem teehee". That's what programming is for and that's what I do. Of course it's only a tool in the tool box. It's useful to learn other things to get the job done. Networking, EE, CAD, etc. If you don't like finding and solving problems you'll hate programming.
>>
>>51684051
It's a good tool for automation, you learn more about computers, and it's fun
>>
If you ask that question, you shouldn't. First you need a purpose to learn, it doesn't work the other way. You don't just want to learn something and then find it's purpose, especially something like programming.

>>51684079
You can make scripts that basically do anything, personalize your computer, create software, make games, hack, etc. Use your imagination and it's probably feasible, the only limitations are hardware and price if you're working on electronics.

That's why its best to lose your legs. If you lose your arms you cant use a computer which makes NEET life useless. If you lose your legs you're sufficiently crippled enough to be considered disabled, but also self-sufficient enough to live on your own or with your parents and not in a hospital/ward.
>>
>>51688498
I think running Kali and hacking WiFi passwords for your friends make you seem a lot cooler and takes a lot less effort.
