30Mbps down, 10Mbps up.
Pretty slow but I'm poor and live in Canada so that makes me twice as poor. Also fast internet here is over $100 a month.
>>
>>51683596
I also have 30Mbps down, but only 2Mbps up. Im upgrading soon to 100Mbps down and 10Mbps up for the same price per month.

Gigabit. Average around 700 Mbps though.
>>
50 Mbps / 50 Mbps

Just internet, no TV or phone service. Verizon FiOS, Northern VA, $45/month.

That price is what is advertised on the website. The reality is that they'll try to layer on charges to more than double that. I got them to bring it back down to $55 after complaining and then $45 after returning their shitty router (which is backdoored for them to do maintenance, which is understandable, but vulnerable due to their incompetence).

Nah, was talking to a dude from baltimore on here a few days ago about it, he had FiOS and said was a contractor installing the 10G-PON infrastructure starting last month.

He said expect late 2016 at the earliest.

Nothing official from verizon as they just dont generally talk publicly about that stuff until its ready to be turned on.

This is me. Pic related is my speed test (used their beta, since I don't have Flash installed). I've always gotten slightly better performance than advertised by Verizon. My parents have FiOS, too, and when I was living with them, my torrents would consistently hit speeds 20% higher than what our plan would advertise.

The downside is that YouTube and other popular services crawl to unusable speeds during peak traffic. Not all the time, but often enough to be annoying.

VPN

seriously, a year ago when L3 was fighting with verizon over peering agreements and youtube and netflix were useless from 5pm-11pm every fucking day for almost a year.

I just connected to my VPN and their peering agreement must have been different, because youtube and netflix would load instantly at 1080p for me, but my brothers computer downstairs would be stuttering and buffering at 720p or even 480p on the same wired connection, just not using the VPN.

And even to this day, if youtube is buffering a lot for some reason (it rarely happens, but it does sometimes), using my VPN instantly stops it and I get 1080p without buffering.

Can you elaborate on the backdoor? I literally just cut the TV and phone service and upgraded to Quantum yesterday and the new router should be at my house when I get home. I only want to use it as a modem with the wireless features disabled; I have my own router.

Since I no longer need the MoCA functionality to run the channel guide on the STBs, should I just run Ethernet straight from my ONT to my personal router?

They aren't charging me anything monthly for the Quantum router, but if it's actually backdoored, I won't use it.
>>
I'm promised 60d/20u (MB) and I get speeds ~55/20, normally. But when I use VPN it goes to ~12/6. I'm always torrenting so I've just come to terms with slower speeds. Still twice as fast as my internet in college.

I pay $60/m for Frontier. Nothing but a great experience, but we've only had them for ~4 months so we'll see!

Price I pay seems to be changing every month atm since I was on a higher speed package but I moved to an area where that wasn't available and asked them to lower my monthly cost as compensation. Last month was ~£37 I think, beats paying a cancellation fee at any rate.

I'm that contractor from the other day. We hope to have upgrades in place to make an announcement by August 2016, and hopefully put the upgrade into effect by the end of Sep that year.

But, that assumes things go on schedule. A lot of legacy systems have to be upgraded, as well as backhaul (more fibers) in many key locations.

It's pretty exciting technology. The NG-PON2 tech we are using has a ton of potential. The first PON card upgrad will take current BPON nodes from 622mbit/155mbit and GPON from 2.4/1.2gbit to 10/2.5gbit. We are field testing software upgrades that will take those same exact fibers, OLTS, and pon cards up to 40/10gbit, then 80/20gbit. It's pretty amazing stuff.

Pretty much every tier will see a complementary speed double, with a new 1gbit offering at the top end. I don't know anything about pricing at this point.

Also, the reason you get that bit of extra bandwidth is because Verizon actually uses their on demand/guide information over IPTV and the internet. So they throw in about 10-20% buffer to account for that.
