Not just bitches do this but pretty much everyone in my family.
I ain't even studying but they have this idea that I'm good with computers so they expect that I understand they're bullshit non-free software and shitty social media websites.

I hate it.

When my grandmother wanted a new TV she contacted my uncle/idiot cousin's dad and they ended up buying it at the same shitty store. I shudder to imagine how much my grandmother overpaid for the TV as she complained afterwards that she had to use the savings account with most of money she and my grandfather had gotten from selling their house when they moved into a service house for the elderly.

In sophomore year I had freshman dorm mates. One day they brought over some of their friends they knew from high school and this 8/10 drunk girl was among them. I had my massive desktop in the dorm (I was still playing games at the time), and had it open because I was switching in a bad hard drive and attempting to do a byte-by-byte copy to a blank drive in order to save the data. I said this in the most technically nerdy way possible because I wanted her to fuck off.
She replied "Woow...ur reallly smart" in a really drunk-ass tone.
Couple days later she told me she was having problems with a new printer she bought - the cd that came with it had an old driver and she didn't realize you could dl the new driver from online.
I went to her dorm and found out her roommate wasn't there. I guess I got there early, because she had specifically just taken a shower.
Anyways I went on her Mac laptop (lul) and installed the new driver and the printer worked.
She said "Oh mah gawd thank you so much anon"
She started to give me a hug and I hugged her back.
Within a few seconds, I moved my hands down to her ass and gently squeezed.
She didn't seemed repulsed by it; instead she turned her head towards me and we began to kiss.
Long story short, installing a printer driver got me some good pussy for 30 minutes.
Fair deal right /g/ents?

The 8/10 drunk girl asked me what I was doing with my computer.

I only help her and family because of the following

>wasted hours coming up with the perfect build for him

People only use you as a tool so they don't have to pay money for a technician. Its a selfish request and they don't give a shit about you as a person.

This is a lesson I learned the hard way. How come they only think of you as a friend or social connection when they need something from you? Why do they exclude you from everything else?
>>
>>51692856

Cool story, but if nobody likes you for anything other than your expertise after meeting you, it's probably because you're a piece of shit. And whether that's the case or not, if you stop trying to interact with people, you'll never get anything out of anything.
>>
>>51692903
Did it ever occur to you that I don't mingle with people on purpose? If you have no social media accounts and don't interact with anyone more than just the pleasantries of hello and goodbye, that is not them rejecting me, its me rejecting them.

As for like and dislike, I don't know what they think but I prefer if people hated me because it removes any kind of expectations, I don't have to please anyone, we can maintain strictly professional relationships without subjective feelings.

It saves me a lot of time and I feel at ease with myself knowing that I am not obligated to be anyone's friend.
>>
>>51692903

You know what else has its own merit? Doing my part to harm the exploitative business model of consumer-facing tech support outfits everywhere.

I spent 4 years trying different approaches in the university to see how people react to me. In the end being an uptight asshole seemed to work with the least amount of effort and I spent my time studying and advancing my knowledge in peace. My own room mate fell for this meme, became too involved with other activities and lost focus of his studies. Now he is repeating the entire year and is broke because his parents are refusing to fund him for an extra year.

I am not stupid, I have years of life experience to guide me.

$260 per hour. might as well throw out your computer and buy a cheap laptop for that price. The guy is literally charging 50% of the cost of a new desktop computer.

Luckily I live in a 3rd world country where the initial examination and testing is free and the charges are nominal even for major repairs. On top of that I have spent considerable time learning hardware/software maintenance so I rarely ever have to rely on them. I also manage 5 other computers in my family, all with near similar specs, Windows 10 full updated and AV installed to prevent infections.

So far so good.

Enterprises literally throw out workstations ALL THE TIME because it is literally cheaper to buy another computer than it is to have it serviced. If you go to any large business -- or, for that matter, any American K-12 public school -- you'll find at least one room with a four-foot-high stack of broken computers that nobody wanted to pay to troubleshoot. except im currently contracted with 2 locations that would rather pay me than throw out their machines. and have about 5 years of experience with doing so. k-12 institutions is a rather piss poor example as most of them have a virtually nonexistent budget for IT in general anyways.

You're probably working on the expensive workstations, the ones serious well-paid professionals use. Those aren't the workstations most business customers use. Most business customers buy the cheapest Dells they can, so they can plop them down on the desks of a thousand drones and use them as pseudo-thin-clients. And they break *daily*.

>leaves work for home with his bag of goodies around 3pm
>works on his house (we built an in-ground pool over the course of about three months)
>he clears around $20k tax-free just by selling hardware stolen from work

Later on, he got into day trading. I'm the one who got him interested in the stock market. This was during the first dot-com boom. He gets custom trading software, up when the markets open, trading with his 401k, paired up with a "trading buddy" on the other side of the country. Within six months he'd destroyed his entire 401k, his other house was being foreclosed on (he was too much of a pussy to kick out the non-paying renter), and he got called into a "meeting" at work where they presented a stack of printouts of his card-in/card-out times.

I've never seen someone get bitch-slapped back to reality so hard. And get this: HE KEPT HIS JOB. Plus, they never even found out about the theft. It's some grade-a Office Space shit.

Laptops aren't workstations. Low-end desktop computers deployed in a business environment are "workstations".

Not either of you to faggots, but "workstation" generally implies a pretty damn powerful machine. I'm talking a computer in the $10k range. This is why the expensive AMD FirePro and Nvidio Quadro line of graphics cards are called "workstation graphics cards".
>>
>>51693937
there are these lovely steaming piles of shit that every purchasing dept has a massive hardon for called "mobile workstations" that also fits into that category while being a laptop.

additonally your typical workstaion with an i7 or e5 with a quadro only runs about $2000 or so.
