Just did one yesterday.
I was going to make my first backup on my newish computer using dd b/c it's what I'm used to.
Is there a good reason to change to something else (other than time)?
i have nothing to back up, lol
Is the backup utility which comes with Trisquel 7 out of the box any good? I've been using that when I do them

Don't worry, if anything bad happens just ask the NSA for their copy of your harddrive

I don't have anything valuable to backup.
Music, movies and vidya I can torrent again, and code is safe in remote repos.
I backed up my user folder a few days ago onto a extra drive in an external case I got laying around. I need to start cloning my anime drive now too.
Way ahead of you OP.
Daily full-disk-image backup, alternating external harddrives.
If I set up Time Machine, will it make a full copy erryday or will it just save the changes?
Just backed up the new photos I saved and the 361gb of blu ray encodes from my RAID 10 setup to my 2TB external last night actually. I dont keep system image backups though. I want incremental backups where only the stuff that is new or has changed gets backed up but I dont know how to set it up. Everytime Windows starts a full backup, it does a full one.
Help? Currently Im manually cooying and pasting new stuff to my external.
I don't have anything worth backing up
Drag and drop master race.

I automate my backups.

Windows Server backup does a full backup when it needs to with a minimum of every 14 days. You have to dedicate an entire drive to the backup and based on its size it will do full or incremental at its own discretion based on what it thinks will give you the most reliability.

(Not op) Do you have any links to docs for that? Was hoping to look into that when I get home.

YOLO
TFW every high capacity external hard drive requires AC power
My power bar is already lined with hard drive AC's and their gigantic power supplies, I can't afford to feed it more of them
