Post pics of ur pi thread. Imma get a pi 2 and probably put retropie on it, so what did u anons do with yours? Also, is it worth getting one for retropie?
>>

Retropie works great but I suggest using a wired controller instead of a bluetooth controller. I use bluetooth and I have huge latency issues so I can only play RPGs.
>>
>>51675589
Ya I was thinking of using wired anyway, I have a spare ps3 controller which I can use. What games do you usually play? Just curious
>>
>>51675589
All the 2D nintendo consoles. There are a million emulators but I've only tried a few of them. It may take some tinkering if you want to play ps1 games.
>>
I dont get it , why dont you just emulate those games in your main computer?
>>
Built a nice little Pi with retro pi on it for a friend kid. Was a goddam nightmare. Tried overclocking and kept corrupting the micro sd. Had a wireless Xbox controller that just would not setup properly. Finally got a build that recognized them after days of fiddling with the shit.

Honestly the setup was such a pain. But once it was working it was glorious.

Friends kid had a blast building a Lego housing to stuff all the shit in and then discovered spyro the Dragon for ps1 and was hooked.

It's just cooler imo, to be able to take a tiny computer around in my jacket pocket, and a controller, and be able to play street fighter pretty much anywhere. It's also very cheap to make, and it sounds fun.
>>
>>51675675
Oh shit. I remember playing spyro on my gamecube. I still have all my games and the actual console. Good days, those were. Trying not to turn this thread into a a /v/ thread lol

Pikmin. Christ I loved Pikmin. Goddam Omar sacrificing hundreds and thousands for his cause.

It's to bad Pi can't emu GameCube.
>>
>>51675738
Ya too bad. Hopefully a pi 3 comes out with like a built in 980 ti lol. But that won't happen for a while.

Yay! A thread I can post in with relevant info aha. I bought a pretty decent size sd (32 gb) and installed retropie. Install isn't bad at all. There is a setting to get usb Xbox controller drivers downloaded, and then they work for almost any console. Use torrents to get like thousands of atari, snes, and nes games at once. Find the ps1 bios and then you can put that in the bios folder. After that you can play ps1 games and it's fun as shit. Some games won't work, like the game won't take input, just as a heads up. If you are good with Linux all the confit files you will need to adjust to get it just how you want it aren't so bad
>>
>>51675589
Is there like some shitty onboard Bluetooth? Should I just get USB bluetooth?
>>
>>51675823
Might be a shit question, but do I just google a download for the bios?

There is no onboard bluetooth. You have to buy a dongle if you want it.

Digging into the inner workings made me hate Linux. Never mucked with anything like that before and felt like a literal retard pausing utube vids to punch in commands cause I had zero clue.

A better solution is to not fuck with Bluetooth, and just have no difficulty, along with not wasting a usb jack
>>
>>51675863
Ya! The file is called SCHP<somenumbers>.bin

Tbh I would recommend googling some basic info about setting up the ps1 for it though. For example, if you want to enable analog on your controller, you will need to save a file on the PI and then go in to replace the original conf file and bla bla bla google that shit meng

This is where I am currently at in the project. Gotta get a marquee printed and cut some plexiglas. Had to do some dumb shit to get the buttons working (like patching the kernel for example).
>>
>>51676575

Are you using the RasPi for the joystick, or the actual console? Or both?
>>
>>51676623
The button set came with a converter that emulates a usb controller. With retropie you have to manually set the controls per emulator.
