Would still be using mine if it would hold a charge, was great for emulators. Previous battery died, so I replaced the battery, it worked for like a fucking day and then never powered on again, so there's something wrong.

Bad marketing and disjointed product strategy. If they'd billed this as the "PlayStation Phone" and counted it as a member of the PlayStation family, that would've been a good first step. They obviously didn't do that.
After that, the appropriate strategy would have been to have a framework for playing and serving digital PSP games that would be portable to future generations of Android hardware. They didn't do that either.
If they'd done both of those things, they'd have been able to sell digital games at whatever price they could convince people to pay *and* cater to a small subset of their demographic that'd be willing to buy a newer, nicer "console" every single year.

I had one. It wasn't even capable of playing PS1 games properly. It lacked memory. The battery life sucked, so playing games meant you would walk around with an empty phone for the rest of the day. Plus it had no games.
They really made a shitty device and then quickly dropped support for it.
I loved mine for GBA emulation, but I fell victim to the big screen meme and got rid of it for something else.

It's really simple really. Sony didnt push the product enough and the idea itself wasn't that great.
This thing was in 2011, the beginning of the true smartphone wars. Android was laggy and just wasn't as polished enough to compete with ios.
Some dickheads at Sony said, hey, lets make a psp that also functions as a phone. It was originally supposed to be a PlayStation console, but it ultimately was converted as a project for their new smartphone division, xperia, who recently debuted quite well in the smartphone market with the xperia x10.
The device itself was okay, it was equal in spec to the xperia arc and other mainstream android flagships at the time but the problem was that it was delayed in some areas and so by the time it came out to a few, the new phones were being announced liked the iPhone 4 and other newer devices with cool shit like 4g lte and dual core processor.
Sony also failed to market it enough, sure they marketed it a bit, but it wasn't enough.
This was in addition to the lack of software. Sony had a few psx ports and some "aaa android games" had support for the controller.
To put the final nail in the coffin, the device suffered meh sales and slow updates due to Sony retards having poor communication between the PlayStation department and the xperia division.
Ultimately, it wasnt good enough.
Most importantly was how mobile gaming was having a big revolution at the time. Apple showed people that you could play good and fun games on your mobile devices and as a result the proper portable game console market suffered, as seen with the 3ds and PS vita. People went to playing in their phones but what where they playing? It's confusing really, we have retarded pay2win normalfag games like candy cruah and angry birds, both that dont require any special game pad or such, dominating the mobile gaming spectrum. As a result we kind of just stood at those types of games.

Upgraded my mini pro last year, I really miss it.
Perfect for emulators and it was really worth the money compared to Play.
To bad the screen was so small/pixelated and that the CPU was underpowered as fuck. I'd love to see both of them getting a new release with modern hardware.
