That chart is ridiculously inaccurate, and several of the fields don't even make sense.

I use Arch because it just werks

Wait. What? Doesn't pretty much everyone here agree the Arch wiki is one of the best docs available?

Also. Same with packages.

And why the fuck does Mint have so low installation?

And why the fuck dues "Ubuntu -Please steal our users info Amazon" get a free pass on security?

Debian and fedora actually and i couldn't care less about what you use. That graph had to have been made by the spergiest of faggots imaginable though. FFS security is the same on each one, and linux mint apparently has no community.

There is literally nothing wrong with Debian.
Don't act like outdated software and systemd actually affects anything you do.

I used arch for a little while when I first started with linux, possibly a big mistake, but I will admit I learned a lot from using it. From a purely consumer standpoint, I wouldn't recommend it - there's lots of room to fuck shit up.

Um, I don't know if there's anything as far as "convincing" for any particular distro, they all have strengths and weaknesses out of the box that you'll need to deal with in order to get a solid, working machine.

Mint and OpenSUSE have been my go-to's since Arch and I currently have Mint installed.

My only suggestion for potential linux users is to try out as many Distros as possible and see what works for you, there's no point in basing which you choose off of other's needs/expectations. Just get a feel for each one and look into what it can do as far as resources/limitations go and you're golden.

What's with all this inaccurate Arch hate? You barely compile anything on Arch, only if you use the AUR, and pacman stopped clobbering config files years (decades?) ago.

Took me less than an hour to install Arch Linux. Never had a problem with X or i3 or pacman.

I guess one might say it just werks. I wouldn't agree though. Your Arch experience is only as good as you set it up to be. People who complain about it sucking either are completely going off what they've heard or haven't taken the time to enjoy the distro. No one I have ever known has complained about USING Arch Linux, and even setup isn't too bad. Once.again: It's all about the effort you put in.

tldr; the only people who hate Arch are the people who haven't put in the effort to use Arch.

Trolling and memes aside, that pic is at least 6 years old and needs to stop being posted. I see it every couple of weeks and it only seems to attract only people who haven't seen it and get angry. Even if it were true, it's simply long outdated.

Who made this picture? do they know how much pain it has caused the internet?

need to basically have a vote at this point and make a new one based on polls or whatever so it isn't posted anymore. not a single person ever agrees with even one part of it ever, it just sparks anger every time

I will not convince you to install my distro. It's fucking annoying seeing these threads on /g/ everyday. If you want to stay with Windows and feel like it's more comfortable for you then use it. If you want to use Linux and feel like it's more comfortable for you then use that. I don't get why people want to force other people to try Linux. Argue with me if you want, but it's pointless.

Can do exactly the same in arch too. It's honestly why I don't bother with script installers or god forbid a GUI installer. Never know exactly where it messed up and it's more annoying to find live media and recover.

I recovered a failed debian install using arch live media desu
