Serious question: For those of you that do have super minimal layouts, do you actually keep your themes and layouts like that all of the time? If so, do you have jobs that require their use frequently - Net Administration, Programming or whatever? See, I would imagine you're familiar with computers if you get that detailed with customization, but I can't imagine being particularly productive with some of those setups unless you go to full screen and turn on high contrast or something which would wreck the aesthetic.
Maybe I'm just missing the point. Anyone?

Well keybinds and tiling with virtual desktops is extremely efficient, but I mean it really doesnt take much to rice

the whole point of rice isn't just to make it look nice, but make it look and work exactly how you want it to. as a wise man once said, 'functionality is in the eye of the beholder desu'
there's no perfect setup for maximum productivity, it all depends on how you want the desktop to work, you can basically make it do whatever you want.

I suppose that's true. I did a small ricing job to a fedora install a few months back, but ran into a few problems with one of the config files I couldn't be bothered to troubleshoot and just did a clean install afterwords. I just naturally assumed that most of the people in here who got there's to the level they're at were pretty competent with computers and all had jobs directly in the field.

User experience, not user accomplishment. The layman's version of the term "UX" is just a different way of saying "rice", so if you took away all the animations and transparency away from one installation of an operating system but not the other, that one would have worse UX.

Perhaps you're that skilled, part of a large team with resources to spare (like a microsoft or apple employee), or are complete shit and have a buggy, half-functional program with pretty animations (like an android developer).
