I went through all this shit on my last install but I've since realized that I can't even tell the difference between vlc and the full custom mpchc/madvr installation even when playing a video outside of native resolution. The only thing that I actually care about at this point is xy-vsfilter which comes with mpv so I'm pretty sold on it. Call me a pleb but I just don't see the point anymore.
