Wasting space on usless top panel.
Showing menu on mouseover - stupid idea. If it were made like in OSX it would be okay. But still not okay for me because I use chromium most of time and it doesn't have menu and that panel would be wasted space.
Slow, resource-hungry.

Chromium does display a menu if needed and does so in Unity. Try again.

Yes you can make menus under windows but top panel won't go away and would eat vertical space.
And you still can't make menu showing without mouseover. You could do it in kde3, gnome2, xfce

He's right, though. At least run 1920x1080. You can reduce the launcher icon size to 32px and have it not take too much space while still being readable.
I like Unity as a plug and play DE, but dislike its poor settings documentations and performance/memory requirements.
