I tired i3 gaps a while ago. It looked neat but it was shit to use as the line to indicate on which side i3 is gonna tile disappears.
i3 only is difficult to rice outside a "super hacker" matrix look.
I only use a stock i3 when I edit a bunch of file and I want to get shit done.

I do agree though. most `talk' when it comes to ricing is inane and not interesting at all. looking at what is posted here, in /w/, and /wg/, that is very apparent. /w/ is one of the worst examples in my opinion. they take the idea of color coordination to an entire new level (past the point where it is a fault). They look disgusting. It kind of works with ahokas desktop, but even that gets stale after a few years of being posted.
