Actually the main reason Jobs put out that "Please eat a dick and die" public letter was because Jobs had spent years trying to get Adobe to ether get their non-Windows implementations not to run like shit or allow other people to make their own better implementations without success. He knew that an adobe built flash implementation would have not only ran like shit on iDevices, but also gone trough the battery like a landwhale trough a box of chocolates.
