Like half a gig is really going to matter.

Only thing I'd care about is the false advertising, but I could get over that.

>>51642768

That 500gb SSD is overkill. Especially with the recent deals, a 120gb one during Black Friday weekend was only about $40~.

That MOBO is a little overpriced. Again, something you should have bought last weekend. I got one for ~80 that's extremely similar

I have no opinions on the i7 4790... but I got an i5 4690 for $100 less Friday.

RAM decent priced.

No idea where you're getting off spending $100 for a case. Do you really show off your desktop a lot?

A bigger SSD is a good thing if you can afford it.

1. Switch to a Seagate Barracuda HDD. $52 for 1 TB

Don't pay extra for the some fancy "Black edition" HDD. You have a SSD for a reason.

Also a SSD with 500GB is a bit much, but whatever.

2. R9 390 > GTX 970

3. Do not forget Keyboard, mouse, headphones, moniter etc.
>>
>>51643024

this. mad i didn't get the $109 480 gig sandisk SSD this black friday. best buy was out of stock and never has 480 gig SSD's anyway.

just appropriate more funds for a better card.

I've seen the r9 290 cost 300$ CAN (about 220 USD), now the price jumped to more than 300 usd. When should the prices go down?

my budget is about 100-200 usd, what's the best card to get in that range?

I just put everything except my /home/ directory on my SSD. My /home directory has the vast majority of my big files in it, but they're all movies and videos and music which never require very fast I/O.

I have no idea how to set it up with Windows. It probably wouldn't be as easy.

>>51643626
Most of /g/, like the rest of humanity, will have a certain amount of bias about their current tech loves. It helps them feel good about their purchase, whether or not it's biased information.

A core2duo owner who just purchased it might exhibit jealousy that a quad core guy has come out and bragged about his new 4 core system. The Core2 owner will then state how the dual processors are more stable and get better use out of two cores than adding two more "smaller" cores and hope he convinces someone. It might be true, but a dual core today can outperform the mightiest quad core 10 years past it's prime.

Then that person factors in value. Core2duo was cheaper, so that affords that owner more money to buy an upgraded system. The quad core owner might argue that he doesn't have to upgrade as fast so that justifies his post-purchase rationalization.

In the end, PC part picking is all pretty fucking meaningless. Buy the top of the line! I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Buy a $400 model from the parts on logicalincriments, you'll be happy about the value in getting a PC that's arguably more powerful (and more useful) than a xbox one/ps4.

this is better than first build, but WTF ARE YOU DOING BUYING AN i7-K AND NOT BUYING A HEAT SYNC!?!?!

1. buy a Cooler Master 212 evo heatsync, was $20 off newegg. A noctua would be better but costs way more and wouldn't fit in that teeny mid tower.

2. PSU is good but I would get at least a 750w or 850w. you want your system to only draw 50-60% max power to prolong your comps lifespan, card consumes 208w without being overclocked.

3. i7 is gorgeous but you wont see much fps gains from its hyperthreading (few games that do take advantage are GTA-V and new battlefront). if you are going for a single card setup and not going to SLI or Xfire in the future you could shave off $100 and get a i5-4690k.

Good call changing SSD and going with the blue over the caviar. though a heads up, you wont see much gain from 16g of ram over 8 in most games either (fallout 4 does take advantage of increased ram) but it does future proof your system a bit more and that's not a bad price.

To finish off, GPU is pretty pricey and unless you are planning on running 4k a r9 390 would do you just as good.

-----------------------------------------------------
7.5/10 build, some over priced parts and lacking essential overclocking hardware.

the Cooler master T2 has a much smaller surface area so it will not cool as well if you are attempting sexy clock speeds of 4.4+

I've already got a PSU that should fit the case. HDD storage is being carried over too. Do I need a cooler for a stock 4590 or not? I've got a good one right now but I doubt it'll fit in the TJ08. Don't know what I'll do for a video card. Torn between the 380, 380x, and 960. I've got a 650 Ti I might sit on for a bit.
