Tell me senpai...
protip: Help a nigger out
I know i can get the 970 for a little cheaper just wondering what you hoes think?

r9 390 > gtx 970 unless there are features from nvidia that you use all the time. I would get a regular non X 390 if price is a concern. The performance difference between the 390 and 390X is minimal. Not worth the extra cash.

+1 Internet for you Tech Anon.
oh and some chocolate milk for your speedy response
>>51640197
np. I'll hold onto the chocolate milk. We can share when you get ba....
Oh anon I'm so sorry!
>>51640113
Go with either. The 390 is the better card, but Team Green plays dirty so often times you'll get better performance on the 970 anyway.
>>51640253
You dont like choco milk do you -_-
haha
hmmmm im leaning more towards the 390 for its future potential, though the 970 has me coming back for its low power consumption, and price.

techpowerup does performance summaries and the 290X (same performance as the 390) outperforms the 970 in the summary even accounting the games held hostage by Nvidia. The lead would only be larger towards the 290X/390 without them.
See https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/R9_380X_Strix/23.html (the most recent one, with recent drivers).

I did say that the 390 is better. It's just that the 970 wins occasionally because of foul play.

>>51640498
390 definitely better AND future proof for more RAM demanding games and higher resolution monitors/dual monitores
970 is perfectly sufficient though

Much love to ALL you Anons for chiming in, and helping me come to a decision.
Picked up the Asus R9 390 for $314.99 from MicroCenter.
I'm sure we made the right choice.

>AMD
>Right choice.
Nvidia literally 85% of the dedicated GPU market with AMD falling further behind every day.
See, what happens is that you have nothing but problems and then only buy Nvidia from then on.
You might have a period of muh performance per dollar the drivers are fine denial but eventually you will realize that no drivers is not a meme and AMD cards are a one way ticket to no support.

Fuck off, trip Shit Nvidia shill.
Why don't you go hang out at /v/, you'll fit in nicely. All of your points are now false or non-issues.
>>51642707
Nvidia intentionally cripples their current cards' performance when their new lineup arrives. You'd be the one experiencing problems later on.
>>51642707
Well, I guess time will tell now wont it.

>GTX 690
>No problems running Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Cinebench in 2015
>GTX 980
>No problems running Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Cinebench in 2015
I fail to see where the crippling is.
>>51643418
To make this test more accurate you'd need to also test the 690's AMD equivalent and see if it's getting better performance than the 690
