You don't need an expensive motherboard. The difference between a titan and a 980ti isnt really that much, use an ssd for frequently accessed things, and SATA drives for bulk storage.

What motherboard do you recommend?
All I really want is to run Star Citizen at the highest possible setting, and also be able to run GTA V with that insane overhaul mod that makes it look real.
I'll swap out a drive though now.
But I also don't want it to go obsolete fast.

Spend like $200 Max on your mobo, as the mobo has little to no impact on PC performance.
16gb ram is sufficient for any and all gaming.
One 980ti will do for the time being, there's no point getting another one until you actually know you need it, chances are you won't.
Don't get a 6TB HD, the failure rates are really high. Get like two 2/3tb Western Digital ones as Seagate is shit.
Also you don't need a soundcard unless you're doing sound work, as there's almost no difference at all for gaming
