First for Seiko mater race.
Third for quality watches and quality posts only!
What's your favourite / most desired combination of complications /wt/?
>>51636364
*master race. Goddamn phone keyboard.
>>51636384
>day-date
>auto+handwind
>hacking
>power reserve
All else is jut fedorautism and dickwaving.
Any cheap, reliable chronos around? SH is fine for mechanicals. $100 tops
>>51636384
>>51636403
Pretty much agreed, although I have a weakness for dual subdial chronograph and Day-Date Lemania 5100 chronograph as well.
Anyone know what model >>51630961 is?
Hope this thread goes better than the last one.
Here's my Damasko.
>>51636384
This but with a monopusher chronograph instead of the 24hr subdial and power reserve on the back.
And spring drive.
>>51636403
GMT is handy when traveling.
Honestly though, how goddamn nice is the Heritage Ranger? Fucking want.
>>51636577
Not really.
>>51636384
Perpetual calendar day-date-month, thermocompensated quartz, and alarm.
Bezels don't count as complications, but a 12 hour "timezone" bezel too.
>>51636384
I want to add a mechanical chrono to my collection. I also think GMT hands are cool, maybe because the GMT-Master is one of my favourite watches. I also think that a nice little moonphase on a dress watch can look very good, for example something like the JLC MUT Moon.
I think dates are ok but I wish they weren't shoehorned into every single watch because they're really not all that great and they kind of ruin a lot of watches. Day displays seem completely useless to me, I have never actually forgotten what day of the week it is.
Deadbeat seconds are kind of a fun obscure complication. It's funny how having a watch that ticked once per second used to be cool but now having a smooth sweep is cool instead.
>>51636403
>mechanical
>not literal dickwaving
Solar-powered recharge is a lot more practical than any winding mechanism anyway.
>>51636690
Unless you wear long-sleeved shirts or a suit, then automatic winding is superior. If you must have quartz, then kinetic.
>>51636377
>talks about quality watches
>posts Soviet tanks
I like your style
>>51636739
>200m diver
>steel case
>automatic with handwinding
>31 jewels
>100% in-house
Sounds like quality to me.
>>51636719
Auto winding is garbage anytime, anywhere. It's the definition of inferior.
>kinetic
>ever
ITT: fat wrists
>>51636774
>200m
This is the most pointless metric to judge a watch on in the history of anything ever.
>>51636739
They ate fucking quality watches.
You buy a vostok you know what you're in for. Go chop some wood with it, drink two bottles of vodka and punch a fucking gay faggots face with it. Leave it in the sybirian woods for 5 years slap it on you wrist and fight a bear and ride him.
It will always work it's one of the most reliable watches ever made.
Putin is love, Putin is life.
>>51636775
How about you stop being retarded.
>>51636785
Only the Canadians are fat, everyone else is bitchwristed.

>>51637068

Alright cringemaster, you're cool, we get it.

How can you tell? No one outside RM is allowed to open them.
>MMXV
>proprietary screw heads
>>51637218
Because they make awful shit for asshole celebrities and Russian oligarchs. Tourbillons are a meme that add nothing to accuracy or anything else and ceramic is a meme material.
>>51637276
>I'm poor and bitter about it
Okay then
>>51637257
Of course the straps are different, one is on a leather strap
>>51636303
How poor are you?
>>51637276
>Tourbillons are a meme that add nothing to accuracy or anything else
You're just some guy on the Internet, but I heard the same thing from a 73 year-old top-tier watchmaker. So I guess that means it's true.
>>51637287
>watch that spits out a dumb haiku when you press the pusher.
Truly the pinnacle of haute horlogerie. Richard Mille watches are some of the finest objects ever created and are advancing the science of horology to new heights with this triumph of micro-engineering.
>>51637358
They look cool and they're expensive and complicated to make, that's really it.
How come there are only 3 perpetual calendar watches under $30k with month day and date display? How come one of them comes with an alarm and a tachy for extra clutter, another is clownfaced, and the last one doesn't actually know how many days February has?
>>51637218
While I find them TECHNOLOGICALLY and in a way horologically interesting, most of their aesthetics as well as marketing is downright appalling.
Most their innovation is in materials though, and not horologically-improving ones at that. They did do some beastly 50mm watch that is springdrive tier accurate and some clock. That's all their contribution to actual horology I know of.
Making the entire movement out of T7075 is p dank, but it doesn't make it more accurate. The suspension thing is objectively useful though.
Their target group seems to be noveau riche, hyper-athletes (mainly to use as walking avertisments) and few if anyone else.
>>51637258
That is the Seiko Brightz SDGM003. It costs around $600 USD and has a truly remarkable level of dial/case/bracelet quality for the price, but the AUTOMATIC on the dual triggers some people.
>>51637276
>muh hyper accurate gravity-negating tourbillon
>no second hand
>hey anon what time is it?
>TIME TO DIE!
>>51637287
How poor someone is or isn't has nothing to do with how incredibly gaudy and tasteless those watches are.
>>51637399
Yes, yes they are. I'm glad we agree on something.
SARB017, 033, or 035?
>>51637486
Because mechanical perpetual calendars are a grand complications and priced as such. They are created as a feat of watchmaking skill, not for practicality.
>>51637629
That depends on whether you want an apple, an orange, or a tangerine.
>>51637630
Who ever talked about mechanical? I like to know the time when using my watch beyond knowing that it's time to adjust the time.
>>51636785

Isn't the patina the whole point of a brass/bronze watch?
>>51639059
Yes. Thus why I said I don't care about cleaning it. But that's the first objection of half these sperglords here, that it corrodes in the presence of moisture.
>>51639100
it's only popular because of hipsters and muh vintage retro patina
>>51639140

You also missed the seiko spc125/129/131 (same watch different version).
In total, that's 4 watches! Gratz, almost up to 5!

Steinhart is bretty gud quality. Not sure about that alpha, people reccomend them if you having a rather low budget, if you are willing to spend more the Steinhart has potential

>>51647948
Never saw that movie, what role does the watch play?
If I remember well he fucks up an undercover mission after some thugs steal his Pobeda and he he goes full autistic rage mode. Apparently the watch was very important to him because it belonged to his father, who was deported to a Soviet gulag when he was a child.
The watch is really beautiful imo but actually rather low-end since its a common 15 jewel model you can get on jewbay for 30-50€.
The movie is kind of lame but as a slavshit collector I find it cool to see these watches in movies.
It was nice to see Bill Murray wearing an Amphibia in "Life Aquatic" for example.

In case you are interested, the leather strap on my Buran is a vintage look Eichmüller. Great quality leather with a vintage finish at a great price, 14€ shipped.
This seller just ships to Germany though.

It's an Apollo 13 watch, so it wouldn't have been on the moon even if it wasn't terrible fucking swatch marketing fodder
>>51647768
Does your buran have Beдyщй engraved on the side or the back?
>>51648387
Apparently not. What does that mean?
Looks alot like this. The strap sewing strted to come off, but it's just cosmetic for the strap.

Tissell is nice! Looks like a real 116610. Hows the feel of the movement?

Get an SSB instead, the mechaquartz movement feels much nicer and they're the same price range. I recommend the SSB027 in particular.

>start pusher: top right

wew lad, I hope normies who own that never get a real chrono.
Is there a list of seiko 8f33 watches? They seem to be hard to find for some strange reason.
Also, do the {6|8}f3*'s second hand roll back to the position before the date was checked when the crown is pushed back in or does it take into account how long the crown was pulled back?
>>51649066
Maybe they'll get a flyback chrono :^)
>>51649078
I think the 8f movements were discontinued at least a couple of years ago for some reason. Too bad really, SPY accuracy and perpetual calender were nice features but most of the watches with them were ugly as hell.
>>51649066
Everyone warns people about how resetting while the chrono is running will destroy the movement but even my Seagull 1963 with the shittiest mechanical chrono movement that everyone loves to talk bad about wouldn't let you press the reset pusher while the chrono was running.
In a column wheel chrono the shape of the column wheel makes it impossible for the reset hammer to engage once the chrono starts. I know cam operated movements are different but do they really not have that same type of protection? I find it hard to believe that a $2000 speedmaster will self destruct if you accidentally press a button at the wrong time.

You more have to ram it as hard as you can to bend the metal out of place. If you're dumb enough to do that you deserve a hefty repair bill if you ask me.
>>51649139
>but most of the watches with them were ugly as hell.
Yeah, that's why I want a list. I was hoping there was at least a good looking model with that movement.
Otherwise I guess the only option is the 6f? Same idea, without the accuracy, but at least half the features are present am i rite? They do have some good-looking models with that movement though.

That is a nice watch, I like it.
>mfw a c1 fag thought he was better than a c3 near me
>>51649374
The aesthetics reason is really sort of bullshit. There was no standardized "correct" way to write Roman numerals until relatively recently. Actual Romans would write numbers however the hell they felt like, but IIII was more common than IV. When people first started putting Roman numerals on clocks IIII was the most common style so that was what they used and they continued to use that on clocks and watches even after it became incorrect.

It mostly more practical to have the least repeated digits so you don't spend your time counting them.
>>51648852
>Feel of the movement.
Wat.
It's a Mioyta 9015 if that's what you're asking.
>>51649486
Say that to my lumibrite face then see what happens.
Actually there's a completely unsubstantiated rumor that lumibrite and superluminova are literally the same thing. Seiko apparently says that they developed their lume in collaboration with another Japanese company, and superluminova is licensed from a Japanese company called Nemoto. It's possible that superluminova is just the same lumibrite being licensed to other manufacturers through that company.
>>51649712
>if that's what you're asking.
That's not what he was asking.
>>51649712
Stick your fingers inside that tight little butt and feel the movement of it. I am referring to the watch, of course.
