Hey /g/, I don't usually go here, so if this is a question you guys get a lot then my apologies.
I want to create a sort of daily planner/ goal setting app. I'm doing this mostly for myself, but if it turns out high quality then I would like to market it. I figure that my first step will be to actually learn a programing language, and then carry on from there.
So I have an android phone at the moment, and I don't believe that's changing for some time. Because of this I would like a language that works for android, but I also want to be able to make the same app for iphone if it shows promise. Is there a language that could be used in Apple and play store and still be functional?

But ignoring that, it's actually not a good idea: different systems have different behaviour patterns and expectations. E.g.: Android has it's tabs on the top, apple on the bottom.
Other than that, it would be unoptimized for both platforms.
Just learn Java for now, and make a good open source app. Later you (or maybe someone else) could port it to iOS.
Other than that, install Gentoo, and then Void or Slackware, and have a nice day.
