>Wear for 30 minutes
>Head hurts like fuck every time

Did I fall for the meme?
>>
No, you just have a sensible head. I wear it about 10 hours a day for work, and I have no problem with it.
>>
I don't think so. I loved mine, but now I'm tempted to try out AKG because BestBuy accoms are broken as fuck.
>>
>>51628583
Yeah this shit feels like clamps gripping my skull. Very uncomfortable. I think I'll just stick to open headphones.
>>
Only hurts my head if I have a hat on with my glasses. If I'm just wearing glasses, I get a bit discomfort after like 4 or so hours. That's nothing compared to wearing with a hat on. Makes my ears and head hurt
>>
>>51628583

Get some velour pads - I had the same problem.

Now they are fine, I can wear them for hours, even with glasses - super comfortable.

If you still experience discomfort, mod the headband as well.
>>
I have the same with my AKG 550's
I also find myself grinding my teeth hard
Considering getting an USB DAC/AMP in hopes that it'll fix it, using onboard audio at the moment
>>
>>51628583
Definitely. They're clamp monsters for anyone with a head larger than a woman's. They also sound like a failed attempt at Beats.
>>
>>51629165
Man, your head must be sensitive as fuck. I tried M50s and felt clamp and other headphones have given me the same issue but my 550s feel loose. Hell, there's people complaining that 550s don't have enough clamp and there isn't enough seal and therefore no base.
>>
The Nexus 5 could not drive those headphones to save it's life. It can hardly drive low imp earbuds.
>>
>>51628825
This.

Side note, the HD558s come with velour, so I didn't have to do this replacement.
>>
>>51628583
That was exactly what I was experiencing. I switched to Fidelio X2 and its like night & day. They cost a lot more though.
>>
>>51629268
im a big guy, or at least my head is
Could also just be because of onboard audio making some noise that i dont "hear", lowering the realtek driver's output quality helped a bit
>>
>>51628583
You probably just have a big head OP. Headsets always hurt my huge ass head.
>>
>>51629334
It would be very painful.

Lol...like a nexus trying to drive anything.
V10 masterrace DAC here, prior nexus 5 sucker.
>>
>>51628583
Same thing. It's like there are screws against my head. It's not comfortable.
And I didn't even talk about the heat inside the earpads.
>>
>>51628583
Just stretch them out. That's what I did and it stopped clamping.

beats are hands down the worst headphones i've ever tried, surely these can't be worse.
>>
Anyone knows where I can get replacement pads for the M50x?

Mine are starting to get worn out but I can't find anywhere to buy the original ones or at least DECENT ones. I don't want some cheap plastic on my ears if at all possible.

I am from Europe, Spain to be more precise, so no newegg for me.
>>
>>51628583
Yes, that meme phone.
>>
I wear mine for 8 hours a day, and only on the 8th hour will it start to feel uncomfortable.
They're not as nice to wear as my Portapros for long periods, but they're not particularly annoying either.

>>
>>51631544
Depends on the drop. Usually it has an expected delivery date in the order.
>>
>>51633102

yes,

people pay 1200$ for shitty little speakers.
take apart a headphone and actually hold the speaker elements in your hands.
they are 2 tiny little circular shits, you will see how fucking cheap and pathetic they are.

no headphones on earth should cost more than 60$
and thats pushing it

the only reason price goes so high is because the audio world is literally a scam, and people charge stupid money for "pleasurable" sound
>>
>>51633123
I love audio too. I'm also a realist so spending inordinate amounts of money on pure placebo isn't my style. My audio setups equal out to around 3000 dungaroos which is proportionately the speakers, as it should be, and not the placebo equipment.

is the tight M50 clamps a meme itself?
mine are so loose that they can fall off my head very easily if I'm say, trying to mow the lawn or I swing my head around trying to whip them off.

And no my head isn't unusually small at all, the headphones I owned before the M50s (Sennheisers 280 pros) clamped my head really hard and gave me pain, one of the reasons I switched to the M50s.

Do people literally lie about the M50s to try and besmirch one of the most common recommendations /g/ makes or something?

keep convincing yourself you didn't just pay hundreds of dollars for 20$ worth of hardware

what makes it worse is that most of these tiny 1inch speakers you pay for sound like shit. even the most expensive meme headpiece sound like pathetic shit
>>
>>51638963
I am inclined to only partially agree with you. I have used skull candy in the mid 50 and 60 dollar range and currently have two mid range headphones (598, m50) I paid 95 dollars for the 598 and I think it's very worth it and better than the skullcandies by far. Would a takstar or shp9500 on sale probably sound just as good? Maybe, but I don't think 95 dollars is a lot for something I wear this much.

I paid around 120 for my m50s and they have lasted me a long time and are great for electronic drums and public or car listening. Don't regret that purchase.

I can't see myself spending an upwards of 3 hundred dollars on headphones ever however.
>>

I have a fucking gigantic head (need size 8 fitted hats) and my m50s are great, I usually forget I'm wearing them. I did replace those shit leather pads though.

That's true, I don't have much experience per se but the sennheiser headphones I used before them were much heavier on the bass.
I barely notice any bass when wearing my M50s.

Has the manufacturer changed the product over the years or something?

All headphones cause me to get horrible headaches. This is why I only use IEMS and speakers.
>>
>>51628583
I use Philips' SHP 8900 and they are the comfiest cans I ever owned. Overlapping the ear lobes entirely, don't squeeze your head at all.
However, they are pretty heavy and the bridge/arch/whatever is not all that fully cushioned and it rests quite uncomfortably on its own. Alas, nothing a little adjusting every now and then can't fix.
