For those here who actually use a linux distro as a desktop OS, which would you say is the best one?
Right now I'm deciding between Ubuntu 15.10, Fedora 23 or Linux Mint.

I've heard that Ubuntu 15.10 contains updated packages and performs better than the older Buntus but that apt is shit. Fedora 23 is supposed to have stable but "bleeding-edge" packages but I haven't heard much on RPM. Linux Mint is supposed to be very noob friendly but contains older packages and apt.

Arch seems like it's a bit of a waste of time and Debian never wanted to work properly for me.

Thanks for any input /g/uys.

Literally Arch or Debian.
MAYBE Mint.
>>
uh op why would you install the facebook operating system
>>
I use arch personally, but if you're against that then go Fedora. Ubuntu is really bloated, and you are right, RPM > apt any day of the week.

Mint is terrible, it's just a shitty fork of Ubuntu/Debian.

I'm not too against it. I've just heard it breaks a lot and takes more time to setup but those could just be a few idiots on /g/
>>
Gentoo.
Not even joking, it's the only one with looking at now.
Use genkernel though.
>>
ubuntu has telemetry and tracking and shit. Install gentoo.
>>
I use Fedora because I want to use Gnome and I read that Ubuntu Gnome isn't so good. If I used another DE I'd use Ubuntu because it generally just werks.

What's wrong with it? Asking for myself, cause I'm running it rn.
>>

Because Canonical make customisations to some Gnome packages that Unity uses.
>>
Both shit
>>
>>51627404
So, does it break anything or smth?
>>

Derivative distros usually aren't worth it in my opinion. So if you had to choose, try Fedora xfce spin OP, RPM is pretty prevalent packaging method, and repos have pretty good amount of software.

Ubuntu Unity is very good and more polished than Fedora GNOME.
>apt vs dnf
They are package managers, it doesn't make any difference for desktop use case.
>>
>>51627429
I don't know the specifics since I didn't try it. Maybe it's not a problem any more.
>>
I use Arch for my laptop.
If I ran a desktop, I'd probably make the switch to Gentoo, to be free of systemd.
>>
>>51627218
If RPM is the way to go what about OpenSUSE?
>>
>>51627185
opensuse leap
seriously, mane
if you have 64-bit hardware
try opensuse

KDE/Kubuntu needs to get its shit together

its slow as shit and crashes all the time

I run both Ubuntu GNOME and Fedora. Apart from older packages on Ubuntu, I haven't encountered any problem nor noticed any difference so far.

This is probably your problem. I'm running KDE mint on 8 GB ram with zero slowdown and no crashes.
>>
apt isn't shit doe desu senpai

I use Mint for my desktops and Debian otherwise
>>
All distros are shit. All these distros and there isn't a single one as minimal as arch but stable.
