We know for sure that 14/16nm is coming next year. We do not know which month, we do not know the actual performance, and we do not know prices.
Based on prior experience with going from 80nm (was it 80?) to 55nm, then 55 to 40, and 40 to 28, it is very reasonable to expect that performance will double. It is also reasonable to expect that initial prices will be extremely EXTREMELY high.
If you already have a good card now, and you are upgrading because "why not?" then you should wait. If you actually need to upgrade, then it is most likely not worth waiting.

40 to 28 was nowhere near double, was like 20%. You'll prob get a 40% perf increase from double the transistor count with pascal/AA. HBM should accelerate that more, hard to say by how much. Nowhere near double

The system seems to be choking a lot on recent releases, but that's largely because AMD have been dragging their feet horribly on getting out Crossfire profiles for games. Definitely going single GPU next time.
