kek

you bought at the worst time, it's like getting a GTX285 in mid 2009; you'll just regret it in a few months.
>>
>>51625541
pretty much same price for airflow editions.
calls me a retard for getting closed water cooled OC edition

2 GPU's
>>
>>51625541
You realize this is probably the best card you can bu right know right? The titan x is almost 300$ more and preforms nearly the same. Also the hybrid is water cooled, meaning you cant cook eggs on it.
>>
>>51625644
yeah in 7 months there'll be a single GPU that has the same performance as two of those for less than half the power usage. and none of the issues dual GPU's bring. all for roughly $800

>oc'ing high end card
typical poor imbeciles that's can't afford SLI and\or have no idea about overclocking and why and most importantly WHERE they need all that cooling.
It's like 4790k overclock - retarded and pointless. enjoy your ugly card, you fucking razer kids
it's you're not gonna use 1600@core 24/7 you should hang yourself OP. gl getting above 1500mhz on hybrid meme tho
>>
>>51625690

Just upgraded from a 670 to a 980 Ti which I got for 569.99 after rebate and got a nice 15% overclock on it. Heaven benchmark went from 33 fps with my old 670 to 97 fps with 1450 MHz boost clock, so I'm pretty happy to get 3 times my old frame rate.

Once the new GPU's come out I'll still probably be able to get at least $300 or so for this card. Losing a few hundred bucks in exchange for 7 months of top of the line performance is worth it to me.

>>51625891
Also fuck you, im going to get great value out of my 2 cards
>>
>>51625705
You bought at a bad time.

G71 to G80 = 70% improvement
G80/G92 to GT200 = 40% improvement
GT200 to GF100 = 85% improvement
GF100 to GF110 = 20% improvement
GF110 to GK104 = 50% improvement
GK104 to GK110 = 33% improvement
GK110 to GM200 = 33% improvement

G71 to G80 was a new process, new API, new architecture,

G80/G92 to GT200 was a scaleup of an existing arch

GT200 to GF100 was a new process; a new API; a new memory tech; and a new uarch

GF100 to GF110 was a scaleup of an extant arch and process

GF110 to GK104 was a new process, and a new uarch

GK104 to GK110 was a scaleup of an extant arch and process

GK110 to GM200 was a new uarch, same process, new API (which it doesn't 100% support yet)

GM200 to GP100 will be a new uarch, new memory tech, new process after a 4 year long stagnation that's a double node shrink, and full support for a new API

sound familiar? We've been in an especially unusual stagnation due to TSMC 20nm shitting the bed. There's going to be a massive correction in the next gen.

I sense Post Purchase Rationalization

Arctic Islands vs Pascal gun b gud
Finally will replace my 5870
>>
>>51625991
I got mine on release day, I can still get 3-4 more months out of this and have minimal depreciation.
the 980ti won;t be losing it's value any time soon. It's not the best time, it's not the worse time either.
>>
>>51625991

>Finally will replace my 5870

Back when I was poor as fuck in HS I could bear to game on a 5 year old card, but now I just buy the latest shit. A few hundred a year for GPU upgrades (selling old one to finance the new one) is peanuts to a gainfully employed NEET.
>>
>>51625966
I never knew corsair sold blocks for those, looks pretty sick, where do the barbs go? got a product page for them?
>>
>>51626069
you cant be NEET and employed. You just live at home. there's an important distinction.
>>
>>51625615
>Die shrinks doubling performance

Completely depends on what they do. I don't expect such a massive performance increase till Volta. Pascal should be good, but I'm worried we may only see small die versions with performance on par with the 980ti for a couple of months like with the 600 and 900 series cards. He may not see a proper upgrade for roughly a year. nVidia's gotten into the habit of releasing their x70 and x80 cards with performance on par with their last generation flagships to sucker people into upgrading from the last gen mid-range card, then 6 months later they release the big die flagship.

Like those people with Sandy Bridge holding out for something better, you never know what the market as in store for you. That's why you either never buy and wait for next great thing after the next great thing, or you take the plunge whenever you feel the need to upgrade.

only decent advice

NEET = Not in Education, Employed, or in Training.

Who said all NEETS are anti-social? I'm not one myself, but I have plenty of trust fund baby NEETs on my friend's list I occasionally talk and game with. They're always talking about how they go out and eat with their friends etc.

You just have a nice job and have no social life. It's OK. Embrace it.

>tfw I'm pretty much the same. Make $22 an hour while living with my folks for $350 a month in rent. Shoveling all my money into a private account to buy a house with in 3 more years. Other than the $50 a week play money of course. I upgrade whenever.

I know how you feel man. I do 10hr work days. 6 days a week. Used to be 5 until work ramped way up.

If I'm not working or doing college work, I force myself to do things I know I enjoy. It takes at least 30 minutes of forcing myself to play a game/read/watch my movie backlog before I start to truly enjoy it. It's like I need a kickstart to get out of worker drone mode.

>Tfw I've ripped and encoded 1.6TB of HD bluray and DVDs and watched maybe 1/3 of it over the last 4 months.

I guess because we're still relatively young is part of it, but now I kinda get the workaholic thing. I still love going outside and enjoying nature when the weather is nice so playing open world games in the winter is comfy. I really want to see Ghost Recon Wildlands.
