What do you guys think of this build? Which 960 should I get and why?

I'm a cheapo, that RAM comes free with the motherboard plus I'm not serious of a gamer/computer enthusiast.
>>
>>51623084
Because that would involve changing the whole setup. Who gives a rats ass about DDR4 when you obviously choose a setup which isn't focusing on the latest and greatest? RAM speed is overrated.

Swap 4690K for an E3-1231, get a cheaper board, the Gigabyte H97 mATX with 4 ram slots is alright.
Get 16gb of RAM, you won't regret it.
960 a shit, get a 380X, Sapphire's is dank
EVGA a shit, get a Seasonic or Flextronics rebrand (any XFX, Antec TruePower Classic, Corsair HX/AX, CoolerMaster V)
>>

Why the hell do they make that crap, but discontinue the H230? I mean, how do people even still buy that thing?

Though seriously, there are tons of better cases that you can get with $70, including the H230, which is still in stock on newegg and the s340, and that's just talking about NZXT cases.

You can get a source 220 for $50, and that's nicer.

Photoshop a fun
AutoCAD a fun

16gb is the new 8gb; just as 8gb became the new 4gb 4~ years ago, and 4gb became the new 2gb 4~ years before that.

>>

There isn't one. The Xeon is for server applications, specifically virtualization and low power consumption / heat disappation.

Just get the 4690k and a good cooler (at least a hyper212)

>>

The only difference between the 4770 and E3-1231 is a lack of integrated GPU, and the E3-1231 supports ECC.
>>
>>51623742
>So how about i replace my power supply with the SeaSonic SS-500ET or the SeaSonic SS-500ES

I dunno. Do they meet your wattage requirements? If so, yes.

I switched to Seasonic and haven't looked back. Great quality, great warranty. It gets tiring replacing power supplies after three years, days after their warranty runs out.
>>
>>51623742
>bronze
If you're actually going to buy a 500W PSU, it needs to be at least 80+ silver (or equivalent)
If you want to cheap out and get bronze or non-rated, get something rated at least 25% over requirement (eg: 650W)
>>
>>51623742

BTW, if you aren't already, you should be checking for a power supply review on jonnyguru.com.
>>
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/g4rfQ7
Should I change anything? Basically the logical increment build with a cheaper mobo and different SSD
>>
>>51623802
oh sweet fuck are you one of those idiots who thinks the 80 plus shit is applied to the given wattage number.

ie 0.8 * 500

because thats not how it works

it's 500 / 0.8 = wall load
>>
>>51623860
I know.
What most people don't understand is that PSU's will degrade over time, and silver+ rated will supply cleaner power for longer, as they typically use better components. (eg. japanese caps, single rail, etc.)
A cheapo bronze or non-rated PSU might be able to supply the full 500W for at least a year, but can degrade quickly after that.

If you don't know much about PSU's then it's a good guideline to follow.
If you know exactly what you are buying, then you won't run into issues.
>>
>>51623949
Single rail doesn't improve reliability, why are you buying into the Corsair marketing meme

Bronze are built fine mate, they'll last 4+ years long as you aren't running them close to the limit
>>
>>51623949
That's not how it works.
For example, aywun 80+ silver psu passes the 80+ silver test, but it's got horrible ripple supression.
Check hardwareinsights if you want.
>>
>>51623949
>and silver+ rated will supply cleaner power for longer, as they typically use better components.

Those are some random incantations there, chief.

> (eg. japanese caps,

Meme.

> single rail, etc.)

More baloney.

You're just repeating a bunch of nonsense you've read from people with no expertise in the area on various websites. You're spouting religious nonsense.

If there's any overclocking involved, this thing will be on the edge of 500W
>>
>>51623029
If anything, I would recommend the hybrid PSU's which keep the cords interchangeable incase of accidents, shorts, etc. Not to mention, if you're going with THAT build in particular, i'd have to honestly say grab a 10,000 RPM Drive just for your OS, but ALWAYS keep a SSD handy for storage, because as I saw, they've half a terabyte for around 250 Dollars in the US (Sourced from TigerDirect.)
But what cooler will you be getting? A monster-sized fan cooler? A liquid cooler?
>>
For the 960 or r9 380:

2GB or 4GB? I'm planning to play heavy modded skyrim, Witcher 3 and Rome 2.

And just for correction, you can switch the two drive purposes around, but make sure EACH of them fits their size for what they're needed for.
>>
>>51624051
8GB just to be safe. Or else you may end up using more resources and being unable to work quick enough with just 4 GBs, especially with such a load on your memory.
>>
>>51624024
Pretty much.
I won't argue any further because we won't agree no matter what I say.
It's up to each party to do their own research and make up their own minds.

>>51624051

380. The wider bus can run high res textures through it much better.
I would advise a 780/Ti though, since ENB's play better with nVidia GPU's

http://www.hardwareinsights.com/wp/aywun-silver-series-a1-550s-power-supply-review/2/

Read this and you'll understand that a silver psu isn't always better than an equally rated bronze psu

Because there's a theoretical limit to the maximum length of the sabre.
You can't suspend a field of plasma at long distances unless it's in a self-contained field, like in blaster shots.
