I just defragged my SSD this morning and since then I've noticed a huge improvement in my transfer speeds.
Why doesn't /g/ defrag their SSDs regularly?
Did you also try to transcode all your flacs to mp3 for further performance boosts?

I defrag mine every day anon
>>51622051
damn why not using automated defrag, every hours, it take a few second and bam it's even faster
>>51622097
so it gets exponentially faster?
why aren't big companies using defragmentation of ssds instead of wasting many moneys buying high-end processors?
why do we need processors if ssds make computer faster?
>>51621954
I JUST DEFRAGGED MY SSD AND NOW THE HEALTH STATUS IS NOW 35%
HOW DO I FIX THIS? I HAVE A LOT OF DATA ON IT
I thought Windows did that automatically?
Perhaps you're running an inferior OS?
>>51622214
Nigga, did you made a antivirus analysis at the same time?
Happened to me, put the SSD in the fridge, the cold air will make it cooler and regenerate its health
>>51622214
Nobody is this retarded
>>51622246
NO, that's a myth!
microwave electrons will reorder the datastructure.
2-3min and it's done
>>51622288
>>51622246
how long should i leave it in the microwave? I know you can ruin the driver after 2mins.
>>51622269
... wave charging the new ios8 feature...
>>51622288
Thanks, I knew that you could cook your motherboard in the oven but didn't knew the microwave trick
>>51622307
Thanks. It worked!
>>51622269
do you really believe that anon?
>>51622208
Jews need that money dude
>>51622214
DELETE SYSTEM 32 DOWNLOAD MORE RAM INSTALL NORTON
>>51621954
if you try to defrag the ssd in windows 8 or higher, all it does is trim the ssd
>>51621954
>Why doesn't /g/ defrag their SSDs regularly?
I don't have to defrag because I have a Mac.
>>51621954
I aacidentally defragged my Seagate SSD last night and it bricked itself
>>51622861
>YFW WD JUST LITERALLY BOUGHT SANDISK
i heard that is kinda pointless and uses up heaps of read/write cycles
>>51622849
yeah i got a mac too
well a hacintosh..
with a custom kernel..
and a different DM..
fine i installed gentoo i fell for the meme
>>51622902
why
>>51622097
I recognise that g- oh wait were on a blue board, I'll keep my mouth shut
>>51622051
Same. Cron job for a daily defrag at 0200.
Still running like the day I got her.
>>51622214
Tryhard.
>>51623887
WD WANTS TO OWN EVERYTHING
THEY BOUGHT HGST, NOW SANDISK
SEAGATE WILL PROBLY BUY OCZ OR SOME SHIT
LESS COMPETITION MORE PRICING POWER FOR THE DUOPOLY
>he doesn't keep his SSD in the refrigerator
>>51621954
Geek Squad, please leave.
>>51622214
You would have to do a whole lot of defragging to wear out NAND.
The new samsung 850s are something like 300 terrabytes written before they start to have issues.
Thats a lot of writing on a 500gb SSD
>>51624626
I build my PC inside of a cube refrigerator
All meme's aside, what are the downsides to defragging an SSD? I've got one coming to me and it'll be my first one.
>>51625456
>downsides to defragging an SSD?
Don't do it anon.
>>51625456
Because its not a god damn platter drive, so it doesnt have the same read speed problems a platter drive does.
So when you do defrag trying to fix a nonexistent platter drive problem, it doesnt make anything fast and it just wears your NAND unnecessarily (a new SSD problem)
TRIM take care of everything for you.
