How long can I record for and can I choose the quality of the video to reduce size?
YES. I create this application to post WEBM on 4chan.og.
It only can record for 20 seconds. I will improve it in next version.
I tried to screen record to webm using ffmpeg and the quality was awful so I had to record using libx264 with preset ultrafast and crf 0 and then reencode to webm afterwards.
Why is there a 20 second limit?

ffmpeg always records full screen. If you want a small animation video, you must crop it after recording.
screen2webm is created to replace the GIF maker.

Webm Converter for Retards is only for that, converting. OP's software is for recording your screen to a webm. Practicality and convenience have nothing to do with anything here.

I download webmcam, which saves the recorded frames as the temp pictures when recording. And next, it produces WEBM from these pictures.
But screen2webm creates WEBM file in real time.
