Sup /g/. This is my first time building a PC and I'm trying to build a decent gaming PC for around $400 + the cost of a monitor and keyboard. After researching shit I've got this build which seems pretty decent.

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated. First time building my own PC and could use any advice I can get. Would like to keep the entire thing under $550, don't have much more leeway than that.

impressive. you might be able to get a case that includes a power supply on newegg, save $10 maybe. not sure about the quad core amd, it'll probably perform like a dual core.

>seagate barracuda
Go with a Hitachi drive from ebay. You can get brand new ones for a little over $50.
>Acer G226hQLbd
Similar monitor here for $10 cheaper

Careful with that since many PSUs included in cases are very shitty.

I would go ahead and spend a little more to get a GPU with 4gb VRAM.
Overclock that 860k to 4.5ghz+ and you'll have the performance of a haswell pentium. Not i3, but at least a pentium.
Curious to see if anyone could build at least a i3 gaming build for $500

Don't pay for a keyboard. You can get them free from any tech person in the world. I have a dozen sitting in a box in my closet.

Personally i say More ram cards homie

Why not go the G3258 route and a cheap h81m board for upgradeability later?

Two huge tips I might give you. You can get a nicer graphics card for cheaper on gpushack.com. They're refurbished but Alex (owner) provides a 2 year warranty on all cards.
Use code HIS20 to get 20% of the HIS 7950
Also, please do not buy a Seagate hard drive. Buy anything else.
If you don't believe me google "Seagate failure rate"
You'll be glad you did.
Some of your parts will be cheaper on Newegg

The code brings the card down to $111

Want to avoid doing that though, the psu in those cases are usually really janky

This motherboard would be better and is cheaper

If I'm correct there's a 1TB WD Blue for $45 on newegg today only

Save up like ~25 bucks and get yourself a 6300

This card also has 3 GB of ram and a larger memory bandwidth (384 bit) which means you will be able to handle high res textures better
Go with a single 8 GB stick of RAM so you can go for 16 GB in the future. Some newer games are already taking advantage of close to 8 GB, so make sure you don't sacrifice future upgradability.
