Do any of you guys actually own any monitors with Displayport?
>>
>>51618787
Asus PG279Q
>>
>>51618787
Yes. My monitor is 1440p and 60 Hz, so I have to use display port.
>>
>>51618787
DVi for life, I only stopped using VGA this year
>>
Nope, I got this basic dell monitor slightly under 1080p, and a 1080p monitor
>>
>>51618787
no
they have DVI and VGA
using DVI and an HDMI to DVI connector for the other

>>51618809
that fill when you have one too few DVI ports for your multi monitor set up.
>>
My Asus VG248QE uses Displayport

>>51618787
Dell P2415Q.
I wouldn't be able to get 2160p60 through anything else
>>
i'm going to buy one in january
>>
Dell U2713HM
>>
>>51618968
...you don't need to SLI to power other screens...
Example being I have the 660 and 650ti, not in SLI, and am running 3 monitors off the 660 and 2 off the 650ti.
>>
Not a single one
>>
>>51618787
Yes, actually. Dell U2414H. Using DisplayPort right now, from my R9 290 which hasn't caught on fire (yet).
>>
>>51618787
Man, I don't own any displays that aren't composite, s-video, or VGA. At the rate shit's going I might upgrade to a 4k monitor next year and possibly skip DVI completely.
>>
>>51618787
yeah, i have 3 monitors connected using DP
>>
>>51618787
dell 30" two of them
>>
Yes, on my pair of u2414h.

Anyone know if it's possible to go HDMI from PC to monitor 1 and from there DP1.2 to monitor 2? I can't get it to work and my googleskills are crap.
>>
>>51620562
No, your computer can only send the one signal down a HDMI cable. You might be able to use DP to the first monitor and then DP to HDMI to the second but I have no idea if adapters work with daisy chaining.
>>
>>51618787
Yes, the 4k Samsung monitor
>>
>>51619073
His card only has two DVI ports. That's it.
He is currently running two screens and wants a third but has no way to connect that third screen.
It could help you to learn how to read
>>
I've been using DP since 2011

Dell 30" 2560x1600 and now Philips 40" 4K

DP IS GOD
>>
i fucking hate how everything is now displayport. its hard to even find normal 1080 monitors that have dvi now

my gtx470 only has hdmi and 2 dvi, so i am fucked trying to mix match shit. not to mention i need a kvm to switch between my desktop and my work machine so if i want to do multiple displays it throws another shitty wrench into things
>>
>>51621040
What the fuck kind of good does the vent beneath the DVI port do? The airflow is completely blocked by the DVI bridge anyway.
Why not move both the DisplayPort and the HDMI2 port right beneath the DVI port so that the air has a larger, unobstructed path to get out of.
>>
>>51621118
im pretty sure DisplayPort and DVI basically use the same kind of signal so you can get (passive) adapters or even just a "displayport to DVI" cable with no problems
>>
>>51621118

You do know you can buy Displayport to HDMI/DVI/VGA adapters that work flawlessly, right? Shit I've got a few sitting in the drawer right next to me.
>>
What's the point of display port versus HDMI?
>>
Dell U3415W. I use mdp
>>
>>51621118
>being this technology illiterate
Why do I even come here
>>
>>51621179
Daisy chaining multiple monitors & locking connectors.
>>
>>51621184
Plus, DP is all my fury x has
>>
>>51621226
>>51621179

Also Displayport is royalty free, so monitors that use it tend to cost less.
>>
>>51621179
Being better in literally every way except for adoption on normie tech.

Dem woodscrews
>>
>>51621226
I have only 1 problem with DP:
ridiculously expensive and rare fiber optic extenders whereas DVI/DL-DVI are affordable in 50-100 bucks range&used.
They are handy when you are trying to keep your 42U rack of IT stuff in your garrage/attic.
>>
>>51621352
A bunch of LG IPS LCD panels has built-in DP interface in their controller boards.
That significantly reduces costs to make a monitor with just one DP port.
>>
>>51621400
That's the price you pay for quality goyim

Nvidia embraces 3 DP top to bottom while AMD still stuck in the past with outdated, obsolete legacy DVI
>>
>>51618787

why is the HDMI port randomly placed between Displayports? Shouldn't the HDMI port be on the far left or right of the Displayports?
>>
>>51618787
Yes, Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP from 2007.
>>
>>51621471
390 has 3 DP friend
>>
>>51621137
>>51621151
i think my main gripe is mostly dvi being limited to 30hz when i begin to hit higher resolutions. i dont play many games anymore but it still sucks.

its just a royal pain in the ass to use a kvm with multiple displays. i could spend like $400 on a triple monitor 4 port kvm or do wonky shit with usb display adapters. sucks having actual work to do needing screen real estate
>>
>>51618787

Yeah, my monitor has a DisplayPort, mini-DisplayPort, 2 HDMI, a DVI, and a VGA input
>>
>>51620833
not to mention, older generation cards that did have more than 2 outputs usually couldnt power 3 displays without having at least one be display port.
>>
Yeah I bought one and returned it today after getting keked.

Apparently the Nixeus Vue 24' with freesync doesnt even work with my card, the sapphire 290x tri-x. Called customer support and they said one other person recently called with the same setup as me with the screen turning on and off.

I was so excited about having two monitors lad. I guess I will just get a 1440p monitor once my refund comes in.
>>
>>51621519
DVI-D can do 2560x1440 no problem. If you're talking about higher than that, it makes me wonder if a GTX 470 can even output 3840x2160? Not that it really matters. It won't even have enough horsepower to play games at that level of resolution anyway.

If you're wanting "4k" you should upgrade your gpu anyway.
>>
>>51621597
Fermi only supports DP 1.1

Kepler & Maxwell supports DP1.2 and will run 4K displays without issues
>>
>>51621597
yeah i can do 1440, but i guess that is per monitor (which really isnt a big deal)

like i said i dont really play games anymore so i wasnt too worried about that, and i have pretty much excepted that if i drop like $800 on an ultrawide curved 1440 monitor or a fuckhuge 4k monitor i would have to upgrade my gpu just to run windows

oh well
>>
>>51621425

I'm not talking about actual manufacturing costs. Yeah, the actual HDMI component probably costs a few cents to make in sweat shops, but there's the premium that manufacturers have to pay in order to actually have permission to implement it.

No such thing exists for Displayport
>>
Displayport vs VGA?

Can't VGA output higher frames at higher resolutions because it's analog?

Why don't you have 8 DP outputs, /g/?
>>
>>51621640
That's not a big deal though. There are cheap-ish solutions from both red and green team that have at least 1 display port. Just save your shekels for another month.

>getting jew'd by buying a corporate line of cards

m8...
>>
>>51621687
I would if consumer cards would come like that. Maybe keep HDMI for legacy though. Korean monitor fags can weep for their giant deprecated connector though.

not personally but all the new monitors for the past few years at my employer that we've been setting employees up with are are using DP
>>
All mine do.
>>
>>51618787
Yup. Lenovo Thinkvision 2452p.

I actually need to find a cheap DisplayPort cable. Right now I'm using the DVI-D port, but I want to free that up on my GPU so I can run this monitor and my old one at the same time.
>>
>>51618787
Yes, some asus 144hz one.
DIsplay port also is nice because it easily converts to HDMI or DVI with only a small dongle. Really saves space on the card.
>>
Reminder that if your laptop doesn't use displayport it's either outdated or HDMI™ consumer shit
>>
Yeah, all 3 of them.
Xb270hu
2 kl27 something, all acer. 1440p, middle is 144hz others are 60
>>
My engineering class uses display ports exclusively. It's annoying because I want to plug in my laptop but have to bring the HDMI cable myself everyday from home and spend 5 min plugging it in where in my other classes I just take off the HDMI cable from the back of the pc and plug it in my laptop.

Used DP, had issues. Image was flickering from time ti time (screen goes blasck for a second, and back on). Switched to HDMI and now everything works. Not sure what the problem was.

I do.

Over DP I have no issues other than a little error that opens up when I wake it up

HDMI has trouble with both linux and hackintosh

I did notice no difference in picture quality
>>
>>51618787
Even my old U2412M has one. Monitors with HDMI instead of DisplayPort are probably shitty TVs in disguise desu.
>>
>>51619002
>>51618968
Why not just buy an AMD card that has eyefinity? Even an old 5870 will do it.
