thoughts on data hoarding?
>>51616441
It might make sense if you don't have high speed internet.
It's no different from regular hoarding.
You are just keeping a bunch of shit you will most likely never need. There was a game show (still is?) about hoarders and holy shit, they collect so much useless junk and garbage. Data hoarding isn't nearly as bad, but for some folks it's getting close.
I anime hoard. I have 16 TB's of anime.

With all the TPP shit, I think I should start hoarding shit. Where should I start /g/ ?
>>51616582
The TPP is good for the economy and only really makes the tech parts worse if you aren't in America and are agreeing to the TPP.
Are you in a pacific country?
>>51616604
I'm in America.
>>51616441
Why do I think that you are a pedo.

Download all full ROM sets for all consoles.
Gonna start hoarding music and films now I have more space.
>>51616538
>it's all moe shit
>>51616633
I'm thinking the same
>>51616441
Sharing is caring, OP.
>>51616506
The mindset is no different, but the consequences are.
Data hoarding isn't as bad provided you can afford it, the space taken physically is no where near to say hoarding furniture for example.
Fuck off.

>thoughts on data hoarding?
My ability to collect is slower than the growth in storage per dollar. Or as I need more space I can replace what I have with the new tech for the same price I paid for the old tech and keep 100% of what I had and still add more to it.

Coalgirls?

Wouldn't tapes be better for that if you've got boxes full of harddrives?
>>51616702
>it's all moe shit
Of course! What else would you hoard?
>>51616812
Data hoarders are also usually very organized. If someone stores huge amounts of furniture in an organized manner they're a COLLECTOR, not a hoarder.

So you organize your harddrives by size, instead of something useful like content.

>Wouldn't tapes be better for that if you've got boxes full of harddrives?
Tapes are annoying to use, slow and need more care to protect them.
>>51616905
Collecting is just organized hoarding m8er.
>>51616939
>So you organize your harddrives by size, instead of something useful like content.
Better than even odds he remembers what's on each drive.
>>51616974
Exactly. Collecting things is fine if it's organized and doesn't interfere with the rest of your life. Having huge piles of dirty, disorganized crap everywhere in your house is pointless and harmful.
>>51616964
Does the speed really matter? We all know that hoarded data is never going to be viewed again.
>>51616559
So what would you do?
