Shit WiFi reception .

If you're okay with built-in security risks then no, there aren't.

Well I was thinking that having less cards might mean better airflow.

I have an Asus Z97 Pro and the on-board WiFi gets a solid connection to my router that is downstairs and about 3 rooms away

no, they're not.
that mobo in particular utilizes a mini pci slot, which is reasonably flexible in terms of options.
integrated would mean soldered onto the board.
i personally use an itx board with a mini pci wifi/bt card in it, and i have no problems, however your mileage may vary.
soldered solutions are typically preferred for their ever-so-slight speed increase (if your router can deliver the proper mb/s)
however mini pci cards offer flexibility and upgradeability if that matters to you
personally i'd like to see an itx board support sli via mini pci -> regular pci adapter + ribbon cable extension
but that's neither here nor there.
as long as it still has an Ethernet port. then there is no problem?
