Is the sysadmin field oversaturated? I feel like I'm slowly developing a lot of the skills necessary for it naturally.

But does that mean too many people apply for that job for it to be an easy job to get into/be secure in?

You need both knowledge to prove in an interview, and you need certificates such as A+, Security+, CCNA, ... to get a decent job

If you think otherwise Gl to you

You can wipe the current driver with this
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

and to find the best driver you should use ATI's auto detect program
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
>>
>>51604792
I'm in college rn and I'm going to be working on the certs very soon now that I have foundational knowledge for many of them, I would just need to study for a few months for each one. But my question stands. how is job availability and security?

I just want to know that if something happens like if I move from one area to another I'll be able to get another job.

I'm not entirely sure how to phrase it. How replaceable it a sysadmin?
>>
>>51604863
How do i uninstall/install the driver? Won't my screen just like go black? I know tihs would be stupid, but i'm just asking.
>>
>>51604863
Oh and i'm also currently on Linux Mint, if that makes a difference, but i'm pretty new to it.
>>
>>51604919
>how is job availability and security?
For me here in Ottawa/Canada it's widely available. Ofc if you travel it will always be different.

As for demand yes it is true there are a lot of sysadmins but imo the top notch jobs requires you to have those certificates and not everybody has them. If you're in College you will land a nice job

>>51604943
Those links were for Windows. For Mint you need to use the OS updater. You can also select closed/open source driver in settings (open is default) closed is better
>>
Complete baby here. C++ question about pointers.

Why does this:

int main() {
char c1, c2;
char *pc1,*pc2;

c1 = 'A';
c2 = 'B';
pc1 = &c1;
pc2 = &c2;

cout << "c1 = " << c1 << endl;
cout << "c2 = " << c2 << endl;
cout << "pc1 = " << pc1 << endl;
cout << "pc2 = " << pc2 << endl;

Print out as:

c1 = A
c2 = B
pc1 = A
pc2 = BA

What's with that additional "A" at the end? I wasn't pointing to c1 at all in pc1 right? Isn't it just supposed to bring out whatever c2 is? (pc2 = B)?
>>
>>51604925
Also no the GPU comes with a minimal driver made for basic use (ie low screen res)

I have a particularly long house. My first desktop sits at one end of the house (Yellow dot), where all the WiFi stuff is. Green dot is a guest house that I occasionally rent, and to get the signal to there I have a range extender in the green house.

Now, between red and yellow dot are of course a lot of walls, and I know for a fact that wifi signal to there is not very good. I have the parts for a pretty nice pc in the mail right now and I need to know the best way for me to get sufficient signal for 1080p streaming and decent download speeds from yellow to red. No, I cannot position the new pc anywhere but at the red dot and no I cannot move the modem. Would my general speed suffer a lot from just setting up another range extender maybe halfway between red and yellow? Or should I just bite the bullet and manually wire from red to yellow with a long ass ethernet cable?

Stupid question for you. I built my rig for overclocking. I have a cooler master silent pro 1000w. It's powering three mechanical drives, an ssd, an r9 290, an fx 9590, and two liang d5 variable pumps. I can hit 5.2 with relative stability on all 8 cores and my cooling solution barely breaks a sweat. But if I try and go any higher, I get cpu over voltage errors on my crosshair v.

From what I have read, my vrm's can push 350 watts to the CPU. My vrm's are under a full cover ek water block, so heat isn't an issue. I think my PSU is my current bottle neck. What kind of specs should I be looking at in a beefier PSU? Do the vrm's draw from the standard 12 volt rails? Should I look for a single high wattage rail? Am I barking up the wrong tree entirely?

I do overclock my graphics card, but I am much more gentle with it. So it shouldn't be drawing too much more than stock power.

Again, depends on country/ISP
I never knew of someone actually getting in trouble for pirating movies/games/songs/programs

My questions, /g/

When I plug in my power chord at the back of my psu it makes a subtle electric buzzing sound, it's not one that seems to indicate immediate danger but since the psu usually goes out with a bang I'm kind of scared. What could it be?

Also my MoBo has only 4-pin CPU power and I'm running an FX 6300. Should I switch to a mobo with 8 pin power (and actual VRM heatsinks to prevent throttling)? Would pic related be worth it? It fits my white case so that's bonus points

What are things pointed with yellow arrows?

It's Latitude E6230 notebook, green thing is headphone/microphone combo jack. There's some known grounding issue, causing a buzz when the touchpad is touched. I have to find where the mobo is touching the conductive casing parts and isolate them so I pulled the cover off and saw pic related.

This is my build, I'm not only hugely disappointed that my graphics card and monitor are out of stock, but the listed deals are FUCKING AWFUL compared to the regular prices. I've seen better deals on these parts earlier in the year but I didn't take the opportunity because everyone was telling me Cyber Monday deals were gonna be fucking sick.
Is there anywhere at all I can get decent deals on my shit?

Also, on an unrelated note, when trying to open a folder on my current computer, it loads up to this point and gets stuck, it won't go any further, I've been waiting for over an hour to see if this folder would work. All of my other folders are doing the very same, this isn't just the one. What could this be, and how do I fix?
>>

Also, curiously, everything loads perfectly fine on the desktop, and when I go to upload a file in a folder, the folders load quick as normal.

generally governments just block domains like piratebay, they don't do shit about actual torrents

ISP's just observe your traffic patterns, torrents involve a bunch of simultaneous small downloads from different connections, normal web browsing and other shit involves fewer unique connections

You get hunted down and sued by copyright keklords who seed popular torrents of their own material and send takedown notices to all IP's who leech from them, peer2peer connections reveal your IP to your peer. this is what a VPN changes, it hides your IP behind their VPN IP

yes you can do this. the only problem I have is if you try to run a game at >60fps on your 144hhz while having something like a video playing on your 60 hz monitor, the 144hz will run at 60. Guys, help. I fucked up.

Long story short, I had upgraded my BIOS to UEFI some months ago, but my boot was in MBR (BIOS compatibility mode). I decided I'd fix that, so I converted my MBR to EFI using the gpt-fdisk (gdisk) with these commands (there are more, but just to give context):

shrink desired = 200 minimum = 200
create par efi
format fs = fat32 quick # Format this with fat32 file system
assign letter = Z:
exit
bcdboot X:\Windows /l en-us /s G: /f ALL

Thing is, I have an SSD. I was leaving about 30GB unallocated for over-provisioning, and forgot about that. My intention was to shrink the system partition 200MB and make an EFI partition with that much, but it ended up making a 30,2GB EFI partition.

How can I shrink it?
