I have an 02 Headphone amplifier but my m50x doesn't really need it. Reccommend me a headphone that will benefit from 02 amplification and actually sounds much better than m50x.

Hifiman?

>>
i mean, with the numbers on the element, i cant see why it wouldnt be better than the o2+odac. and it's so close in price
>>
>>51602262
Because it measures worse.
>>
>>51602278
Does it really? I'd be very interested to see measurements of it.
>>
>>51601317
I mean how the headphones don't really sound like they have a purpose.

they just show a bunch of detail but don't really roll it into a package, if you follow.

I haven't found any music which they really shine, they just sound decent with all music, nothing that really goes WOW. Where as sennheiser has a really smooth sound.

Still like them but I tend to mainly use them for gaming not music listening.

>>51602397
Measurements look good. Not O2 good but good. Something that will be completely transparent. Element has crazy power figures and the design seems pretty nice, too. Seems like a solid product to me.

>>51602644
>anything thats under 32ohm impedance don't need it.
Anything under 32ohms generally wont need much voltage at all but some models will want heaps of current and will be susceptible to damping issues.
>>
i found the earbuds i was trying to find.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004PNZFZ8/ref=psdc_172541_t1_B00FYZSTVS

ive seen you guys talk about how its good sound quality for its price range. the only other thing i wanted to know is if its also good for gym workout/ running. will it stay in my ears or fall out?
>>
>>51602602
The Grace just came with a bad cable. Cables might be a meme in perceivable terms but when it comes to these kinds of measurements they do make a visible difference.
>>
>>51602687
I doubt you're going to find a high end headphone that has 32ohm or less impedance.

99& will be more, so my point stands.
>>
Question
where can I get a braided/sleeved cable for HD600s.

I don't want an expensive "audiophile grade" cable, I just want a sleeved cable to replace the shittty thin rubber one that came with it, not because I want to eliminate phantom noises or what ever audiophiles these days claim.
>>
>>51602699
those are garbage

no good for working out either
>>
>>51602706
LCD-X is only 20 ohm though,
>>
>>51602706
What the fuck does high impedance have to do with needing an amp, kill yourself retard.

>I doubt you're going to find a high end headphone that has 32ohm or less impedance.
>LCD-X
>HE-1000 is 35ohm
>>
>>51602748

then what should i get if i want the following attributes for earbuds? :

not terribly uncomfortable
decent quality sound
decent non sound leak and decent isolation
gym/running: wont break from sweat / wont fall out

50$-100$ price range
>>
>>51602768
>>51602777
both of those are orthodynamic, which need an AMP no mater what.

I'm talking about dynamic headphones here, people asking for advice on headphones are not likely to be buying expensive ortho headphones.

calm your autism batman.
>>
>>51602810
Refer to http://benchmarkmedia.com/blogs/application_notes/14017381-headphone-impedance-and-sensitivity and stop running your uneducated mouth like you know anything.

The more you spread this misinformation, the more retards out there will become what you are. I wonder if this is how the audiophile community was born as a whole? Misinformation spreading like wildfire.
>>
Should I "mod" my Sennheiser 558 into 598?
>>
>>51602855
Just do it. If you didn't like it, you can always go back.
>>
>>51602798
You shouldn't run or walk with earbuds in. I run 25 miles a week here. You always need to be alert, whether for a vehicle or a dog. Otherwise...well...you'll find out.
>>
>>51602885
How likely am I to screw up?
>>
>>51602900
That's exactly the purpose where earbuds shine but IEMs suck assuming you run in a city. Earbuds don't isolate thus you can still be moderately aware of your surroundings even while running and listening to music.
>>
>>51602901
Depends on how much sphagetti you can be. It just removing some foam and put it back if you don't like it.

Budget: 50$-100$

Source: Phone or Fiio X1

Preference: Earbuds

Comfort: Decent

Sound quality: Decent to good

Preferred music: all types so balanced would be ideal, but its ok if it has a favor towards bass.

Additional: would like decent sound isolation

decent non sound leak

wont break from sweat

wont fall out during run/gym

Ferrites make a bit of difference, only if EMI was causing a problem, power supply rejection not high enough.

You need to have absolutely nothing, because there are all sorts of voltage sources that people have.

>>
>>51605642
How is your O2 setup configured?

>>51605671
I have no idea which one is correct, or even if any of them are correct.

1.7 VPP is 0.6 Vrms. Not a typical voltage for anything.
130mW into 32 ohms makes for about 2.04 volts. That would be a normal voltage for modern day line out (typical CD player/DAC voltage), but it isn't being used that way. It has half the current output of Objective 2 as such. It may be current limited into that load, but the specs are not helping.

So, what is the best way to lower volume without losing quality?

In foobar for example, should I always keep the music at 0.00dB, does it lose quality if I lower it? Or should I lower volume in the OS settings? My headphones are currently on "75" in the OS.

No but still depends on what you want. M50X are bassy whereas the Sony is quite neutral. M40X would be a better option from Audio-Technica. It's fairly neutral and cheaper than M50X.

Wouldn't the m40s be objectively worse than the m50?

Also I live in Canada so the m50 is on sale for 170 and the Sonymv6 is 200 dollars unless I order it from the states which is 50 US but that will come to 63 Canadian plus shipping plus duties and taxes so I'm not sure what's a better deal
Also the Sony says it usually ships in 3-5 weeks which is long as fuck

I'm looking for a pair of over-ear headphones to use while watching movies with a VR headset. I'd also use them for music and games.

Are NVX Audio XPT100 a good buy? They look pretty comfortable. I'd be willing to go up to around $150, but don't want to spend extra money if I don't have to. Also, don't really want ones that are over bass-heavy.

I mean that good audio gear is scattered around different price points. I don't know a single manufacturer where audio gear would just get better and better the more you paid. There's always a bad model somewhere in the lineup or the highest end ones are just shit you shouldn't ever bother with, offering less for more money in a lot of cases. Better just to check some measurements to see how the products actually perform. Here's M40X vs M50X:

http://ko.goldenears.net/board/5322081
http://ko.goldenears.net/board/5705574

M40X is the better measuring one. Being cheaper I don't even consider M50X an option between the two.

Guys, my onboard audio fucks up the microphone (Antlion modmic 4.0) audio quality with noise and shit. The usual green audio jack seems to be working perfect but the mic input is fucked. I've tried many things such as reinstalling Realtek drivers/even Windows but it didn't help. The mic works flawlessly on other machines. What do? I bought a several $3 external audiocards but they didn't do shit except making my voice flat and rougher. Maybe buy a more expensive audiocard? I can live with this noise in the background but it just bothers me since I'm an autist.

Inconsistent fit which affects seal and bass leakage.

The upper midrange sounds retarded.

I don't think AKG K702 are good headphones. K7XX and K712 are better and more consistent options since they use earpads that seal better.

what about the k612? does it seal better as well? bass-wise, is it similar to the dt880?
>>
>>51614158

Sub-bass is a bit rolled off, but it has bass, fairly accurate bass, maybe a bit too much gain in the lower midrange.
>>
>>51614292
Same problem as the K702, with an ideal seal bass output is roughly the same as the DT880, though the DT880 might have better bass extension to 20Hz by a couple of decibels the difference won't be heard in music.

>>51614163
First, don't use smoothing.

I got some Shure SE315-K's last year and they are pretty awesome, only problem with them is the cable they come with, its huge and heavy and sucks. so i got a $15 replacement off ebay and they work perfect, super comfortable easy to fall asleep in too.
>>
>>51614396
K612 has better midrange and treble in my opinion. The DT880 is bright and to some it can sound like it lack upper mids a bit.

Only con about the K612 is that 2kHz is a bit hot and its susceptibility to bass leakage, based on the inconsistency of the K612, I'd rate the DT880 as the better headphone.

K612 is also quite inefficient.

The X2 already have the nicest cable in the sub $1k market, I don't see why changing it.
The only modification you can do to the X2 is tieing a rubber band above the headband to improve its tensions, other than that they're pretty much perfect, on a build level.

I had the Turtlebeach Ear Force X11 years ago, I liked how you could easily tell which direction a sound was coming from, and the over-ear design that made them fairly comfortable to wear. Disliked how they were made I guess, it just kinda fell apart through normal use after sometime. Haven't owned anything notable since then just cheap shit from stores that I picked up just because it was cheap. I'm definitely not looking for a headset even though the only thing of note that I owned was one.

Hi /hpg/, help an oldfag out, haven't had headphones for like 10 years, but I'm interested in getting a pair, is it that much of a difference music-wise? Also I recently picked up some gaming and I've read it's better for environment awareness. If you could help a lost soul out, I'd appreciate it. audio technica m50x any good? Other recommendations? I don't really have a fixed budget, but maybe 100 - 150€?

Does someone have experience with iems and really small ear canals? I have been looking for decent iems for my wife but none of them fit well. Do you want a meh DAC and a meh amp or a just a decent amp.

If your current (onboard) DAC is sufficient you only need an amplifier and the Magni 2 is a better amplifier than the E10K.

Audio Technica M50x for bass and closed-back for use in public.
Sennheiser HD 558 for more neutral sound and better "environment awareness".
